“Get out of my room”: Kelly Ripa Shocked as Jennifer Lopez Reveals How Her Kids Have Changed Over the Years
After marrying her true love Ben Affleck last summer, Jennifer Lopez is still on cloud nine, but she admits that integrating their families has been a bit of an emotional process. Before calling it quits on their relationship, Lopez and Affleck, affectionately known as Bennifer, were engaged in the early 2000s. After their break up, both went on to marry and have children with other partners. The duo got back together in 2021 and have been together ever since. In 2022, they got married twice: once in a surprise ceremony at a chapel in Las Vegas and once more a month later in Georgia.
The Hustlers actress, 53, stated on Live with Kelly and Mark that she and her husband Affleck were co-parenting teenagers and shared some information about their family.
Jennifer Lopez’s Revelation About Their Teen’s Changing Behaviour
The Mother actress acknowledged that adolescence is difficult, but she disagreed with Kelly Ripa when she said that the youngest child, Samuel, is “worse than teens.” Lopez argued against Ripa by claiming that “he’s an angel.”
The teenage years are difficult, she acknowledged.
“It’s difficult. You have this baby for a while, and then all of a sudden it’s like, “Get out of my room,” your best little companion who loves to be with you always.”
Lopez continued,
“It’s a time when they are individuation, and they are challenging everything you say and everything you do and everything you are, and that’s what it is. And you have to kind of just ride the waves.”
“I feel like it’s surfing. I’m riding the waves, and then it’s like, ‘Oops, I just got knocked over!’ Now, I’m back, I’m back!”
Lopez is mother to 14-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck shares his three children, 17-year-old Violet, 14-year-old Seraphina, and 10-year-old Samuel, with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

The multi-hyphenate gushed over the AIR star while speaking to Hoda Kotb on Today, saying, “Well, he’s a fantastic, wonderful parent. He is truly the best father I have ever seen, and it makes me cry,” she stated, adding that Affleck occasionally teaches her new things about how to engage with their children.
Loped added,
“He’s such a brilliant guy anyway, and you can tell that when he had his kids he must have read every book and everything that you could possibly learn about children, and he applies it.”
Jennifer Lopez further said:
“He’s present, and that’s all you can ask, for a present, loving dad who shows up every single day, and that’s who he is.”
“He’s fantastic. He really steps up to the challenge of what that is and what that means,” she continued of Affleck. “And they love him. They love him. And they appreciate him, and so do I.”
As for Affleck, he earlier told that “There is something innately, magically kind and good and full of love” at the core of who his wife is. He added, “That’s exactly the person I remember from 20 years ago. Maybe she sees all the changes she’s made, whereas when I see her, mostly I just see someone who has retained, against the odds, the thing about her that always made her the most incredible to me: a heart that seems boundless with love. She is my idea of the kind of person I want to be.”
Affleck and Lopez, who had first started dating in the early 2000s, revived their romance during the pandemic and later wed in July 2022. Affleck has three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, whom he was married to from June 2005 to October 2018, while Lopez has two children from her former marriage to Marc Anthony.
