One of the best actors in the business, Joaquin Phoenix, is mostly recognized for his portrayals of gray-skinned roles in indie films. The New York Times recognized Phoenix as one of the greatest performers of the twenty-first century in 2020.

The actor, who has gained recognition for playing unusual parts in films, has been hailed for his work in Gladiator, Walk the Line, Her, and DC Studios’ Joker, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. Although Joaquin Phoenix is well-known for his quirky, contemporary hipster appearance, he chose to break with tradition for a single day.

Joaquin Phoenix ditched his favorite Chuck Taylor for sleek formal shoes

Joaquin Phoenix, who is known for his modern-day-hipster look, loves his Chuck Taylor, which was also recently pointed out by a user, Xander Torres (@therealprofessorox). He had pointed out in his video that the actor never really wears colors and has immense love for wearing Chuck Taylor almost everywhere but then the actor had decided to ditch them for the 2020 Academy Awards when he won the Best Actor award, Joker.

According to Esquire magazine, the actor decided to don the same custom Stella McCartney tux that he wore from the Golden Globes to the Academy Awards to reduce waste. The designer had tweeted at the time:

“This man is a winner… wearing custom Stella because he chooses to make choices for the future of the planet. He has also chosen to wear this same Tux for the entire award season to reduce waste. I am proud to join forces with you… x Stella.”

Joaquin Phoenix just opted to add a bow tie with a tuxedo and a pair of sunglasses to close the award season with his presence at the Academy Awards. The internet user also pointed out that even though he couldn’t wear Chuck Taylor to the Oscars, his partner did and they were spotted having a celebratory moment after he won the award.

Joaquin Phoenix returns as Joker in the Gotham City

The first appearance of Joker: Folie á Deux, starring the actor alongside Lady Gaga, was released in which the actor is seen standing in the rain in Gotham City and surrounded by colorful and vibrant umbrellas, which has now sent a way of frenzy among the audience who are waiting for the movie’s release.

The movie was helmed by director Todd Phillips and is expected to be released in October 2024. He went ahead to share the first looks of the actors on his Instagram with a caption that read,

“That’s a wrap, thanks to these two (plus the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into the cave room (edit room) and pull it all together.”

The second part of Joker is said to have a musical approach and is known to be a more gritty and dark drama with the addition of new stars including Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland. The main plot of the movie has been kept under wraps as of now. Zazie Beetz, who will be reprising her role as Sophie Dumond, shared with Digital Spy last year,

“Todd [Phillips, director] has always had a creative approach to the character. I love musicals, and I think of them as the characters are feeling and experiencing so much that they can only sing and dance about it, whether in sorrow or in joy.”

She added that the concept makes wonderful sense to her.
