Johnny Depp’s Close Friend Pitches Wild Idea of Remaking Classic Movie With Ex-Wife Amber Heard That Gets Surprising Update from Actor
Johnny Depp is among the highest-grossing actors of all time, with two billion-dollar-earning movies under his belt.
However, the last half a decade or so has seen him largely remain away from the trembles of box-office collections. Instead, most of the camera flashes in his way have come either for his dispute with ex-wife Amber Heard or his stint with the supergroup Hollywood Vampires.
These days he’s been touring with the group. Interestingly, his band member and close friend Alice Cooper has given him a very interesting idea to once again rock at the box office.
Johnny Depp Told to Collaborate With Amber Heard for the Remake of the War of the Roses
Hollywood Vampires was formed in 2012 by music icon Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and Joe Perry. Their decade-long stint must’ve led to many discussions around new music ideas for their veteran band.
However, Cooper has suggested they also pitch movie ideas here and there. While talking to The Times about his relationship with Depp, the 75-year-old revealed how he once jokingly suggested the actor to re-collaborate with his ex-wife Amber Heard for the remake of The War of the Roses.
Instead of being offended by a topic that has been a very rough part of his life, the Pirates of the Caribbean star took the joke the right way and laughed.
“I said, ‘I have a great idea. You and Amber do a remake of The War of the Roses. Who wouldn’t go and see that?’” Cooper said.
“He laughed. Then it was, ‘What songs are we doing?’ Johnny is a good guitarist and in a way, he would have been happiest doing that, playing side of stage in a band and not having to deal with the level of attention he gets.”
Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner’s The War of the Roses is a dark comedy about a lawyer and his wife deciding to divorce. Their decision leads to a ferocious battle of wills. To be fair to Cooper, a lot of fans would love to see Heard and Depp star in such a reboot, but we all know it’s almost impossible and for very understandable reasons.
Did Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Ever Work Together?
One can never say never in Hollywood, but it won’t be wise to hold your breath in hopes of seeing the former couple join hands once again. Still, for fans who are very keen to see Depp and Heard work their magic together, there are two movies.
First is The Rum Diary. The 2011 romantic drama sees Depp play Paul Kemp, an American journalist who builds an affection for Chenault (Heard). The movie was a huge flop, but it appears to be a key point in Depp’s eventual relationship with the Aquaman actress.
Earlier, The Lone Ranger star admitted during the filming of a steamy scene in the movie, he experienced unwanted feelings while he was kissing Heard. This was then followed by another romantic encounter when the cameras were off. At the time, Depp was with his long-time partner Vanessa Paradis.
The pair also worked in London Fields. The movie came in 2018 when things between the two were far from rosy, however, its filming was wrapped up much earlier. Depp’s role was just a cameo, while Heard was the lead face of the movie which is rated 3.9/10 on IMDb.
