American actor, comedian, and filmmaker Jordan Peele is a well-known name in the movie industry. Millions of people love him for his work in Get Out, Nope, Key & Peele, and Monkey Man. He has won many prestigious accolades for his contribution to the genre, including one Academy Award and one Primetime Emmy Award.
Peele has earned critical appreciation as a movie director which is one of the main reasons why many fans want him to step into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Luckily, fans might just see their wish turning into a reality soon enough.
Jordan Peele Could Make His MCU Debut with the Blade Reboot
It is no secret that Marvel has been struggling to make the Blade reboot happen. Although it was announced back in 2019, the film is hardly moving forward in terms of production. Neither the shooting has begun, nor there’s a filmmaker who has been locked in as the director.
First Bassam Tariq and then Yann Demange, exited the role of director for the Blade reboot. Reportedly, Marvel is now discussing the film’s takeover with a “specific director” (via X). While there is no news on who this director might be, there is a good chance that it is Jordan Peele.
It has to be noted that in 2019, the Get Out director told Rolling Stone that he had no interest in directing the Blade reboot.
It’s a filmmaker’s dream. But you know, I feel like I only have so much time. I have a lot of stories to tell, and it just doesn’t feel right. It just doesn’t feel right.
Since Peele has yet to make his Marvel debut and it has been years since he said that, there is a chance that he is the director about whom the rumors are circulating. Fans were in favor of him doing the project even back then.
Kevin Feige Spilled The Beans Regarding the Blade Reboot
Fans are visibly worried after witnessing so many entries and exits from Blade reboot. It has already been almost five years since the movie’s announcement and the development is still at an early stage. When Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, was asked about the Blade reboot’s whereabouts, he revealed some key information.
Feige teased that just like Deadpool’s character, Blade’s character will also be portrayed in a way that will make the movie R-rated. Doing so will bring out the real essence of the character. Regarding the delay in releasing the movie, Feige explained that Marvel doesn’t want to rush things and hence wants to focus on making a movie on Blade that feels right from every aspect (via Variety).
I mean, for the last two years as we’ve been trying to crack that movie, the most important thing for us is not rushing it and making sure we are making the right ‘Blade’ movie.
As of now since the announcement, only one thing has been certain and that’s about Mahershala Ali playing the lead role in the movie. The two-time Oscar winner is by far the best choice of Marvel to play the title character.
