When ranking the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, it’s easy to forget about one important thing: what makes a sorcerer strong is not their Cursed Technique, but their own skills and mastery of it. For example, on paper, Sukuna’s Cursed Technique is really simple, but he honed it to perfection.
So, let’s take a look at just the strongest Cursed Techniques as they were wielded by the sorcerers. Problem is, everyone knows Gojo, Sukuna, and Yuji. So, let’s forget about all the special grades, and solely focus on everyone below them.
The criteria for this ranking consider the potential of the technique, but also to what extent it was used by the sorcerer. Note that we are only including characters that have official grades assigned to them, which makes characters such as Hakari Kinji unqualified to be here.

10. Mai Zenin’s Construction Couldn’t Reach Its Potential
Mai Zenin is the sister of Maki Zenin, as she has the Construction Cursed Technique. This same technique was also used by Yorozu, who is one of the strongest characters in the anime overall. Unfortunately, Mai could never properly unlock the complete potential of this technique because in this world, twins are treated as a single sorcerer.
Meaning, the potential was divided between Maki and Mai. As Mai died, Maki unlocked her true potential, but that couldn’t be the case with Mai herself. However, in her final moments, she managed to make the Soul Split Katana, which itself is a feat big enough to make her enter this ranking.
9. Noritoshi Kamo’s Blood Manipulation Is Perfect for Close Combat
Noritoshi Kamo has the inherited Cursed Technique that allows him to control his own blood in any manner he wants. This technique was also used by Choso and eventually Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo as well. The reason, however, that this technique ranks so low is because Noritoshi never managed to hone it that well.
He was able to create small shields, some arrows, or shoot the blood to some extent. In fact, even when Choso showed what the technique was capable of, Yuji was able to dodge him for the most part. At that time, during the Shibuya Incident arc, Yuji hadn’t even reached half of his potential, which makes this technique rank low.
8. Mei Mei’s Black Bird Manipulation Lacks Versatility
Mei Mei’s technique is very simple, but at the same time, it’s also very effective. She can control crows by imbuing her Cursed Energy inside them. She can share vision with them, and also use them to do a bird strike which, according to her, only Gojo Satoru has been able to stop.
This simple technique allows her to do more than just fight, such as surveillance and information gathering. However, she can run out of crows, which makes this technique rank in the bottom three.
7. Kokichi Muta’s Puppet Manipulation Gave Mahito a Proper Fight
Kokichi Muta, or Mechamaru, has the technique that allows him to manipulate puppets from a long distance. Furthermore, he can manipulate a large number of these puppets, transfer his own energy to them to fight, and can practically keep fighting without actually getting in harm’s way.
However, these strengths came with the drawback that his own body is crumbling. When fixed by Mahito, he was able to move and still use his puppets. That is when we got to see him switching the genre of the anime to mecha for a single episode. The reason he ranks low is that while strong, there are grave drawbacks.
6. Kento Nanami’s Ratio Technique Can Hurt Even Special Grades
Kento Nanami’s Technique allows him to virtually divide anything or anyone into perfect ten parts, and when he hits perfectly at the edge of the 7th and 8th parts, he can deal lethal damage. This sounds like a technique that is not suited because he has to do calculations in real time. However, the key thing here is that he himself decides which area will be divided.
Meaning, he doesn’t have to calculate on the whole body; he can just choose the head or a small area that he is actually going to hit. If he makes the timing right, every attack is like a small black flash. But the reason this technique couldn’t climb higher in the ranking is that it doesn’t give any defensive advantage to the user, unlike the ones we will see now.
5. Nobara Kugisaki’s Resonance Became the Final Key to Victory
Nobara Kugisaki’s technique allows her to damage her opponent from a great distance using a straw doll. However, a variation of this makes it highly lethal for the enemy when she uses a nail to hit that very straw doll linked to the opponent. It makes it so that no matter how sturdy or far away the opponent is, they will have spikes coming out from inside their body and damaging them.
This technique allowed her to survive Mahito (for a while) and even deliver one of the final key blows on Sukuna himself. The only reason this technique can’t rank higher is that there is a prerequisite of acquiring a part of the opponent’s body to use that technique.
4. Toge Inumaki’s Cursed Speech Is a Broken Technique
Toge Inumaki’s Cursed Speech is straightforward. He uses Cursed Energy to speak a command, and whatever he says happens as long as it is physically possible. If he says “stop talking,” the opponent would stop talking. This technique, however, puts a lot of strain on the throat of the user. But the potential is insane; imagine if he got Reverse Curse Technique and could immediately heal his throat.
There is another reason why it couldn’t rank any higher, as Toge himself cannot talk normally as his technique is always active. This, however, was not the case with Usami in JJK Modulo.
3. Jinichi Zenin’s Missile Fists Are Highly Destructive
We could not get to see Jinichi for a long time, but in the short time when he was present, he showed how destructive his Cursed Technique can be. It is very simple: he can rain down big punches from the sky that land like Missiles, destroying anything that gets in the way. The sheer destructive nature bumps this one in the top 3.
However, we also got to see that while it is strong enough to be able to destroy big structures easily, it couldn’t kill Maki, who had just achieved her real potential. This one is destructive, but ultimately it’s like Deku from My Hero Academia raining his physical punches, nothing more.
2. Naobito Zenin’s Projection Sorcery Makes Him Insanely Fast
Naobito Zenin had the title of the fastest sorcerer alive (with the sole exception of Satoru Gojo, of course) because of his technique. This one is a bit complex, but it will make sense once you read the following: Just like anime, he can generate 24 frames per second that he has to plot out in advance, and then can practically teleport in those frames.
What this means is that in a single second, he can cover big distances without effort. Furthermore, when this technique is active, anything that the user touches must also move at 24 frames / second. And if they do not, they get stuck in a single frame, rendering them unable to move.
The only reason this technique doesn’t rank higher is that if an opponent is fast enough in general, this technique can easily be countered, just like Maki countered Naobito in the Perfect Preparation arc.

Finally, at the top is one of the simplest yet most effective techniques. Boogie Woogie has it all. Todo can be offensive with it, as he can swap positions of two items or people as long as they have Cursed Energy, and even if the person or object doesn’t have the energy, he can simply imbue it into them. And it is a good technique for defense as well, as Todo can teleport himself away.
Nothing speaks better for Todo and this technique than the feats. Todo was able to fight Mahito for a long time, and eventually helped Yuji have one of the best revenge moments. Furthermore, when all hope was gone, Todo entered the battlefield against Sukuna with a binding vow that allowed him to teleport everything he wanted at insane speed, disorienting everyone.
