The film will not be another sequel, but a sort of reboot of the whole franchise. This time, the studio brought in David Koepp who was the screenwriter behind Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, as the writer for the new installment.
Koepp’s contribution to Jurassic Park had an impact on the ‘90s and onwards films. Apart from the first Jurassic Park, he also wrote the screenplay for the first installments of Mission: Impossible and the Spider-Man franchise, which shows his caliber.
Apart from him, Scarlett Johansson has also joined the movie. Speaking to ComicBook in an interview, Johansson said how excited she was about the project and talked about what it means to have Koepp on the team.

Johansson has a deep respect for the franchise’s roots. She even revealed that Jurassic Park was one of the first films she remembers seeing in theaters, and it was a “life-changing” experience for her.
Cast, Crew and Plot of Jurassic World Rebirth
Even though the plot has not been revealed yet, according to Variety, the film is described as a “completely fresh take launching a new Jurassic era,” following 3 adults and 3 teens who find themselves stuck on the infamous dinosaur island.
The film will be directed by Gareth Edwards, who has experience directing movies for fan-favorite franchises. With films like Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it is expected of him to give a new take on the Jurassic world while respecting its roots.
The cast of the movie has some big names in it. Other than Scarlett Johansson, there are Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. However, Chris Pratt, who led the Jurassic World trilogy, has been coy about his potential return. In his interview with CBR, he said, “Maybe I return. Maybe I don’t. You’ll just have to tune in to find out.”
The shooting is in progress, and some parts were shot in Thailand, as reported by Variety. This backdrop can be expected to be ideal for some prehistoric actions in the locations that are chosen.
As far as the plot is concerned, it looks like the makers are not going with dinosaurs running wild in cities anymore. The film seems to be going back to the basics, back to the island that launched the series. With Koepp on the team, fans would definitely expect some twists to the traditional plot.
Jurassic World Rebirth is set for release on July 2, 2025.
