SAG-AFTRA strike rules may affect Oppenheimer’s London premiere
Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming film, has already created a buzz among the audience. The film starring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer is a biographical drama. The film will hit theaters on July 21, 2023. The film recently had its global premiere in Paris, and the reactions from the premiere has already created hype for the movie.
Oppenheimer is set to have its London premiere. However, there are reports that the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike may get in the film’s way for its UK premiere.
In the hope for the cast of Oppenheimer to not break the SAG-AFTRA actor rules, the studio will roll out the red carpet an hour earlier than planned. The London premiere scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m. is shifted to 4:45 p.m. local time. These 60 minutes will allow the cast of the film like Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh, to pose for photos and participate in interviews without going against SAG-AFTRA strike rules.
As per the SAG-AFTRA strike rules, actors would cease performing, auditioning, entering agreements for future work, and participating in press and publicity for current or previous work. The SAG-AFTRA board would still need to convene on Thursday to vote and approve the call for the strike. According to Universal executives, such a thing might not occur before the premiere.

Fans React to Oppenheimer’s London premiere dilemma
As per the SAG-AFTRA rules, actors are not allowed to participate in press and publicity for current or previous work. This rule may majorly affect the soon to be happening premiere of Oppenheimer in London. Universal is hoping the possible SAG-AFTRA strike doesn’t get in the way of the London premiere.
The fans have taken over Twitter to express their thoughts about the situation. A person tweeted, “Just let them promote their hard work, jesus.”

There were many other tweets where fans discussed their views.
Just imagine the actors would just suddenly turn around and walk away in the middle of the red carpet.
But I doubt they want to risk that, so maybe nobody shows up ^^— Youngstar (@Youngstar99999) July 13, 2023

They could have done the strike after it. Now, actors will be forced to break rules and people won't take the strike as seriously.
