Just Like Jennifer Lawrence’s $80M Movie Co-star Robert Pattinson Also Left College for $886M Movie Starring Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe
Robert Pattinson has worked with many A-list actors over the years. He went on to star in The Twilight Saga film series which further established his name in Hollywood.
Several Hollywood actors could not complete school or go to college because of their commitment to a project. One such example is the members of the boyband One Direction who once revealed that they could not complete school. Robert Pattinson also could not go to college because of his acting career.
Robert Pattinson Revealed Why He Could Not Attend College
Robert Pattinson won millions of hearts with his performance as Cedric Diggory. Interestingly, he was the same age (17 years old) as his character when he played the role. While this role gave him the chance to expand his career as an actor, it also deprived him of his chance to attend college like any other 17-year-old person.
In an interview with Time Out, Pattinson revealed how the Harry Potter movie kept him from going to university, saying:
“It’s the reason I didn’t go to university. It went so far over schedule, I couldn’t go. It was supposed to be four months, but it ended up being 10 or 11. I’d turn up to set every day but not work for weeks at a time. I was 17 and I was the only person who wasn’t in school. I’d just hang about.”

The Lighthouse actor is not the only one who had to suffer from the consequences of embarking on an acting career. Jennifer Lawrence’s No Hard Feelings co-star Andrew Barth Feldman refused to pass on the chance to star alongside the Oscar-winning actress in favor of going to college. He said that he could do that later and he might but giving up this opportunity was something he was willing to do.
Robert Pattinson Admired That His Castmates’ Schooling Was Prioritised
Robert Pattinson not going to college might have adversely affected his academics but starring in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire helped him become a professional actor. He claimed that the environment of the movie was warm and welcoming.
While The Lighthouse actor did not get the chance to attend college, many of his castmates were. He found this impressive. In an interview with HFPA, he said:
“Even compared to movies I’ve done since, it was very protected, the way the kids were treated. I’ve watched movies where you see a kid who’s got their tutor and it doesn’t exactly seem like they’re really going to school. I mean, it’s just kind of [like] they are fulfilling a legal requirement. But in Harry Potter, it was like they were at school and they were kind of doing work at the same time.”
Robert Pattinson also credited this movie for helping him decide that he wanted to become a professional actor. Over the years, he has starred in movies of various genres such as sci-fi, horror, and thriller.
