“Justin regrets that he hurt Britney”: Justin Timberlake is Disappointed Britney Spears Exposed His Dirty Secrets Decades After Their Breakup
Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears used to be one of the hottest couples in Hollywood in the early 2000s. Their history dates back to when they starred in The All-New Mickey Mouse Club along with other soon-to-be stars Ryan Gosling and Christina Aguilera. Spears has also revealed in her new memoir The Woman in Me that she and Timberlake were even each other’s first kiss.
The recently released memoir has brought forth many dark truths about the Baby One More Time singer. Britney Spears’ point of view of every single incident that has led up to who she is today has put many to shame and Justin Timberlake happens to be one of them. Although the Mirrors singer has yet to publicly comment on the claims his ex-girlfriend has made, he is allegedly disappointed about it.

Justin Timberlake’s Reaction to Britney Spears’ Memoir
Justin Timberlake dated Britney Spears from 1999 to 2002 even though their relationship was not made public until the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards when they walked the red carpet together for the first time. After their breakup in 2004, they had nothing but good wishes for each other.
According to a source who opened up to Us Weekly after the release of The Woman in Me, Timberlake did not have the slightest inkling that the Toxic singer would make every detail about their relationship so public. The source said:
“Justin thought Britney might talk about their ups and downs in more general terms — not air out their very personal, dirty laundry. He’s disappointed she went this route decades after they split up.”
While talking to Us Weekly, another source revealed that while The Social Network actor is regretful, he is not giving too much importance to the book. The source said:
“Justin regrets that he hurt Britney. He was young. He thinks Britney has every right to tell her story and hopes they can move on now.”
Timberlake and Spears seemed to be on amicable terms after a couple of years since their breakup. So, whether these revelations will sour their relationship or not is yet to be seen.
Justin Timberlake Wrote Cry Me A River About Britney Spears
It is not uncommon for musicians to write songs about their personal experiences and often, some of these songs end up being about their lovers or even ex-lovers. Justin Timberlake seemingly wrote Cry Me A River about Britney Spears, and the music video for that song suggested that the Criminal singer had cheated on him.
In his 2018 memoir, Hindsight & All the Things I Can’t See in Front of Me, Justin Timberlake wrote about the song Cry Me A River. He wrote (via Us Weekly):
“I’ve been scorned. I’ve been pissed off. I wrote ‘Cry Me a River’ in two hours. I didn’t plan on writing it. The feelings I had were so strong that I had to write it, and I translated my feelings into a form where people could listen and, hopefully, relate to it. People heard me and they understood it because we’ve all been there.”
Britney Spears has confirmed in her memoir that she cheated on Timberlake towards the end of their relationship. She has also mentioned how the former NSync singer’s infidelity affected her.
