Kaiju No. 8’s World Could Forever be Changed if the Truth About Kafka Ever Gets Out
Naoya Matsumoto’s popular Shonen Jump series, Kaiju No. 8 finally got an anime adaptation which was released back in April of 2024. Since its release, fans have shown nothing but love for the show given how Production I.G and Studio Khara left no stone unturned in the show’s production.
Given that Kaiju No. 8 has gone through quite well with fans, it has sparked quite a lot of fan theories just like any popular anime would. However, a theory about Kafka Hibino’s transformation by a fan on Instagram garnered much attention online.
A fan theory brings the world of Kaiju No. 8 to question
Kaiju No. 8 follows the story of Kafka Hibino, which takes place in a world where gigantic monsters terrorize society. Kafka having failed to join the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force, starts working at a professional Kaiju cleaning company, Monster Sweeper Inc. However, his work at the Kaiju Cleaning company becomes a blessing in disguise after an encounter with a Yoju sends Kafka and Leno to the hospital, he encounters a small flying Kaiju which enters his mouth, transforming him into a Kaiju.
However, the reason why the flying Kaiju chose Kafka as its host still remains a mystery for fans watching the anime. Popular anime content creator @yaseenthatguy gave out his theory on why Kafka Hibino was chosen by the Kaiju, and it was definitely a fresh take on the series.

Yaseen That Guy’s theory suggested that Kafka was never chosen by the flying Kaiju, but was targetted due to the Kaiju saying, “I found you” during their first interaction. Yaseen seems to believe that Kafka was targeted because he might have been part Kaiju himself. Given that there are Kaijus who have the ability to disguise themselves, the theory suggests that Kafka Hibino might be the product of a Kaiju and human relationship.
Though just a theory, it certainly does bring in a different outlook on the whole world of Kaiju No. 8. And given how Kaiju No. 9, an antagonist of the show has the ability to disguise himself as a human, the fan theory doesn’t seem too far-fetched.
The perfect antagonist for Kaiju No. 8
Kaiju No. 9 serves as the main antagonist for Naoya Matsumoto’s popular anime and manga series. Unlike most Kaiju in the series who are portrayed to be mindless monsters set on rampage and destruction, Kaiju No. 9 looks to have a specific goal in mind. He has a very calm demeanor but is incredibly ruthless and destructive.KAiju No. 9 has the ability to morph and disguise himself into a human and is intelligent enough to play it off without raising suspicion.
What makes the character even more interesting is the question that arises when it comes to its motives. Unlike more traditional villains whose actions are a little more obvious given their motives, Kaiju No. 9’s mystery surrounding that aspect makes the character seem even more ominous. Naoya Matsumoto masterfully wrote the character in such a way that contrasts Kafka Hibino’s kind and straightforward nature.
