Kate Middleton is Bringing Roger Federer Back From Tennis Retirement-Tennis Legend’s Recent Comment Excites Fans
The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, recently had the opportunity to train with tennis legend Roger Federer in preparation for Wimbledon for a behind-the-scenes video honoring the Ball Boys and Girls (BBGs) who make the renowned tournament run smoothly.
This was not Kate Middleton’s first time on a tennis court with a pro; following her historic Grand Slam victory in 2021, she played a match at the National Tennis Centre with US Open Champion Emma Raducanu.
Kate Middleton and Roger Federer observe training sessions for BBGs
A four-minute video was filmed earlier this month at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in which Kate Middleton and Roger Federer can be seen observing training sessions for the BBGs as they learn the techniques. Ahead of the tournament, teens aged 13-15 are coached on everything from how to bounce the balls correctly to the proper way to signal for a change.
Towards the end of the video, the Princess of Wales says, “To see the training and the dedication and the amount of time that is put into the training and making sure this goes well on the day for the champions who are playing at Wimbledon… It’s incredible to see it behind the scenes.”
The tennis legend said, “This is proper practice, I am really impressed at how much effort and training goes into being a ballkid during The Championships.” It won’t be wrong to say that the Princess of Wales made the Swiss Maestro come out of his retirement even if it’s just for a video right?
Before they all posed for a group photo, the pair could be seen conversing with the BBGs and seemed eager to learn about their preparation for the role. The BBGs, which have 250 members, start their training in February at the Raynes Park Community Sports Ground, according to the tournament website. This gives them plenty of time to learn everything as thoroughly as possible before the tournament, which begins in July.
Roger Federer’s recent comment hints at his attendance at Wimbledon
The tennis legend’s announcement of retirement came as a surprise to the world, but if there is something that he earned more than the various championships, then it’s the love and respect of people across the world whether they are tennis fans or not. The Swiss Maestro retired after the 2022 Laver Cup edition.

The 41-year-old tennis professional recently took to his social media to share a tweet, which came from the official account of The Prince and Princess of Wales and said “Anyone for tennis?” to which Federer replied, “Count me in”. As soon as it was posted, the fans of the tennis legend broke the Internet as the tweet garnered over 1.3 million views and the reactions were emotional.
Wimbledon’s account replied by stating, “Sounds great- we’ll host”. The fans are considering this comment from the Swiss Maestro as a hint that maybe he will grace Wimbledon with his presence and everyone’s excited to see him.
Roger Federer praises Novak Djokovic
Following his retirement, during a media discussion, the Swiss Maestro mentioned that he is surprised at how often and frequently he checks the scores, three times a day, and all of a sudden, there are days where he says he checks out for like a week.
Federer continued that when he’s with the kids and traveling, so he’s gone, and then he forgets about everything around him. He added, “I think there’s some great matches going on. I try to check some highlights reels more than watching games per se because my life is also a little bit busy, but I’m really entirely happy.”
Recently, Federer, who was a guest of honor in Halle for ‘Roger Federer Day’, also praised Novak Djokovic who has had a record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam title, and said “I think what Novak has done is unbelievable.” He, however, was put in a spot where he was asked who is the best player between Djokovic and Rafael Nadal to which he said that it is difficult to answer.
When asked to share his thoughts on the GOAT debate, the Swiss Mastro simply replied that they both have achieved so much but as long as Nadal is still playing, calling Djokovic the GOAT will not do justice.
