WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer, who recently shared how impressed she was with Hahn’s approach towards her character, creates the show. In an interview with Marvel, she shared,

It wasn’t really about seeing her do it. It was the early conversations when we first started. I’m familiar enough with her impressive body of work to know how funny she is and how ballsy and brassy and all of that. But I loved the questions that she asked and the way she unpacked the core of this woman.

Schaeffer noted that working on Agatha All Along was the first time he was directing Hahn and mentioned that every director should be lucky. She added that she loves the changes in Hahn’s face and physicality and the way she can swing so gracefully between drama and comedy. The creator went on to say that when it comes to Agatha, the character has a ferocity, which Hahn managed to bring out in just the right way.

The creator mentioned that every individual has a sense of humor in them, and they are aware of what works, but they wanted to pull out the savagery in the characters, especially in Agatha. Jac Schaeffer said that according to her, the savagery in Agatha is what elevates the show, and it’s all Kathryn Hahn.

Jac Schaeffer shared during the interview that they did a lot of research about witches before they started filming. She added that they spoke to present-day witches and tried to understand them. The creator clarified that they were very clearly not doing a show about witches but a show with a central questions What is a witch? She is very happy with the results and hopes that viewers will also love the show the same way it was made.

Kathryn Hahn’s performance in WandaVision became the standout performance from the show, even though Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany were praised for their respective performances too.
