When Kathy Bates took home an Oscar Award for her role in Misery, she expected a grand welcome and a hearty congratulations from everyone she knew. For the actress to win such a high honor and that too for such a twisted role, it was no mean feat.

However, her mother didn’t seem to think so. She remained unimpressed since Bates did not find a cure for cancer so no exorbitant excitement was necessary.
