Kevin Feige Has High Hopes With MCU’s Moon Knight, Say Oscar Isaac
Presently, Moon Knight has the Kevin Feige’s nod of approval, said by star Oscar Isaac. The MCU has celebrated a pretty huge 2021, but things are just about to get even bigger next year. With four films and several more Disney+ shows on the way, Marvel fans will not be complaining about the lack of content. Moon Knight is one of the shows on the list for 2022 and is expected to release sometime in the first half of the year. It’s been in production since 2019, with Isaac being cast late last year.
Moon Knight will bring on board Marc Spector to the MCU. In the comics, Marc is a greedy man who, after a job goes haywire, is bestowed with the superpowers of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Not much is known about his live-action debut, except for the fact that it could be the MCU’s darkest project yet. Moon Knight began shooting earlier this year and, as of early October, was nearing its end. The series also features Ethan Hawke as the villain; while his character is still being kept a secret, fans have put out theories that he could be becoming someone like Werewolf by Night.
Isaac is having the time of his life right now, among his roles on HBO’s Scenes From a Marriage and in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Not long ago, he met with Variety‘s Awards Circuit podcast to discuss his recent roles, including Moon Knight. Isaac has much respect and praise for his directors, and he also expressed his excitement for the upcoming project. What makes things even more exciting is Marvel boss Kevin Feige’s reaction to the show, which Isaac said is pretty positive:
“[Directors] Mohamed [Diab] and [Justin] Benson and [Aaron] Moorhead, they were so fantastic. I couldn’t believe my luck and how collaborative the situation was. I’m really excited and hopeful. I don’t know if it’ll work, we took some big swings, ya know! And even Kevin said, ‘I don’t like to count my chickens before they hatch, I’m feeling good but you never know!’ So hopefully it’ll look as good as it felt.”
Isaac hints that Moon Knight makes some very big promises, which in turn makes its upcoming release more exciting. Until now, each Marvel series that has been screened on Disney+ has taken on a very unique style, and one has to hope that will continue for those to come in the future.
