Friday rippled a sense of relief throughout the MCU fanbase after news broke about Sony and Disney reaching a new agreement about Spider-Man. The new agreement ensures that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will appear in the MCU for two more years.

New Spider-Man Agreement With Disney And Sony

The celebration, however, could be shortlived. Sources have learned that one of the conditions that come under the new deal is that Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios will use the two movies to write the beloved web-slinger out of the MCU. This will give Sony full ownership and control over the character. One of the films would be a solo Spider-Man film, which makes the second film a possible team-up film with other MCU characters.

Expected Storyline Of Spider-Man 3

Sony's Spider-Man 3 is expected to hit theaters July 16, 2021.

The solo film will presumably continue right after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home – where Spider-Man’s identity as Peter Parker was revealed in a negative light due to the efforts of Mysterio and J. Jonah Jameson. Peter Parker will probably require some external help in order to take on this threat to his identity, which might be the plot of Spider-Man 3. It’s likely that the extra movie will ensure a clean exit for Spider-Man from the MCU.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Feige said, discussing about Spider-Man’s involvement in the MCU, earlier this Friday. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
