The Kardashian-Jenner family is frequently in the news for many reasons. Despite their unique journey to fame, they have controlled the cosmetics and beauty business for almost ten years. Top of the chain is the momager, Kris Jenner.
Jenner is, without a doubt, one of the most well-known mothers in the world. She has brought her daughters into the limelight with their reality show. The 67-year-old was part of Ariana Grande’s famous song Thank U, Next, which came out in 2018. Grande is a pop icon who is adored by millions of people all over the world. Her powerful vocals and storytelling songs have attracted fans. It was reported that Kris Jenner replaced the singer’s mother in the Thank U, Next.
Kris Jenner steals Ariana Grande’s mother part in Thank U, Next
Thank U, Next was a crucial record for Ariana Grande even before its release. She was already a tremendous star and a proven hitmaker, but the title propelled her to previously unheard heights. The vocalist experimented with some new ideas, became more vulnerable than ever, and asserted even greater creative authority than in the past.
The song was full of early 2000s movie references and celebrity appearances. Jonathan Bennett, Stefanie Drummond, Jennifer Coolidge, and other characters from Mean Girls and Legally Blonde were mimicked by Grande in the song. However, for the part of Regina George’s mom in the Mean Girls–inspired portion of the video, the 30-year-old turned to Kris Jenner.
The momager plays Regina George’s mother, originally played by Amy Poehler, in a scene from Mean Girls that recreates the Jingle Bell Rock performance. Kris Jenner was ideal for the part as she is dancing in the crowd while sporting a pink tracksuit and a camera in her hand.
But unlike Poehler, who has flaxen hair, Jenner is sporting her typical closely cropped brown hairstyle, quite similar to Joan Grande’s dark, spiky pixie cut. The songwriter, before the song premiere, admitted on Twitter that she cast the role of Mrs. George with her mother in mind. The entire role is a nod to Kris Jenner’s position as maybe history’s most successful momager.
The success of Thank U, Next, starring Kris Jenner
The cameo of Kris Jenner in Ariana Grande’s famous song Thank U, Next was the biggest surprise of the video. The 67-year-old playing Mrs. George helped the singer topped the billboard.
The 2018 song by Grande has spent exactly three years, or 156 weeks, on the Billboard 200. The album is now Grande’s longest-charting work and the first of hers to spend three entire years in the top 100.
Shortly after the premiere of Thank U, Next, it broke the record for most Vevo views 55.4 million in 24 hours, surpassing Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do. Three days later, it broke another record for the fastest time to reach 100 million views. In 2023, Grande’s new album Dangerous Woman tied with Thank U, Next calming her success on the Billboard.
