King Shark, also known as Nanaue, is a supervillain appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer Karl Kesel and artist Tom Grummett, King Shark first appeared in 1994’s Superboy in a cameo before appearing in Superboy #9 more prominently. The character was recently seen in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League; an action adventure shooting game.

The story of Kill the Justice League follows supervillains Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark, who are assembled by Amanda Waller and sent to Metropolis to stop an alien invader, Brainiac. In addition, to stopping Brainiac, the supervillains are also sent to kill the members of the Justice League who have become suicidal. The game has received mixed reviews but a recent clip of King Shark transforming into a fan-favorite character has taken over the Internet.

King Shark transforms into Green Lantern in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

The adventure shooting game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League follows the story of super-villains being assembled by Amanda Waller. Waller assembles the villains for a mission to not only kill the alien invader Brainiac but also the members of the Justice League as they become suicidal after being brainwashed by Brainiac. The story is set five years after the events of Arkham Knight.

According to The Gamer, one of the most surprising and unique moments for supervillain King Shark was when King Shark attempted to force the Power Ring of Green Lantern onto his thick fingers. The supervillain was successful in placing the Power Ring onto his pinky finger, transforming into Green Lantern himself. The clip has gone viral online.

King Shark recites the oath of Green Lantern by changing the last line, and says ‘Beware my power, King Shark’s light.’ He then transforms into a giant great white shark with the glowing emerald green properties of Green Lantern which he uses to destroy the shields around the alien invader’s skull ship. This gives Amanda Waller a chance to launch a nuke at it that is ultimately stopped by a brainwashed Superman.

Fans react to King Shark’s transformation into Green Lantern

The audience of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been divided into two teams; those who appreciate King Shark’s transformation and the ones who do not see the character as worthy of the Power Ring. They have taken to their social media to share their opinions.

One of the users noted, ‘It may not be more accurate but that doesn’t change the fact that this is still the single coolest thing DC had done with Green Lantern in the past decade,’ with another one adding, ‘A Lantern version of King Shark goes hard for no reason.’

Another X user pointed out that according to them the scene is intentional and that the moment is not lore-accurate. The user added that they feel that the makers are going to clarify this in future updates of the game. A user went ahead to appreciate the actor voicing the character by adding, ‘And it’s Samoa Joe voicing him to boot which is f**king awesome.’

A fan added, ‘Listen if Guy can be a Green Lantern, KingShak can be too,’ with another one asking if the ability to use the Green Lantern’s ring is based on one’s willpower to save others. They added that in a case where King Shark is trying to save humanity, wouldn’t he fit the criteria to use the ring, even if it’s temporary?
