The professional ballroom dancer and Dancing With the Stars head judge Len Goodman have died at age 78. His management team released a statement confirming his death news on April 22, 2023. According to several reports, Goodman was earlier diagnosed with bone cancer and died at a hospice in Kent.

Len Goodman’s agent Jackie Gill said,

“It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78. A much-loved husband, father, and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.”

He started dancing at the age of 19 before starting his career in the entertainment industry. Len Goodman rose to fame after he appeared as a judge in 2004 on the British reality dance show Strictly Come Dancing. The Dancing Cheek to Cheek star announced last year that after two long decades as a judge on Dancing With the Stars, he confirmed it would be his last season with the hit show.

Len Goodman said,

“I got the call to be a judge three days before the first show. Little Len! Who am I? I’m just a dance teacher from Dartford. Suddenly, I’m thrust into Hollywood. I got the reputation for being the tough judge, because what I see is what I say.”

As soon as the news of Len Goodman’s death was announced BBC News released a statement stating,

“He appealed to all ages and felt like a member of everyone’s family. Len was at the very heart of Strictly’s success. He will be hugely missed by the public and his many friends and family.”

Following the news of his passing, Goodman’s co-stars and friends started pouring heartfelt tributes on social media. One of his former co-judge Bruno Tonioli wrote,

“Heartbroken my dear friend and partner for 19 years the one and only ballroom legend #lengoodman passed away. “I will treasure the memory of our incredible adventures and hundreds of shows we did together @bbcstrictly @dancingwiththestars. There will never be anyone like you we will miss you, Bruno.”

Len Goodman was a uniquely wonderful TV personality and talented ballroom dancer apart from his TV career he also wrote a few books like Better Late Than Never: From Barrow Boy to Ballroom, Dancing Around Britain, and Lost London.
