Movies have often been a reflection of the ongoings of the real world, and Marvel is not far behind in doing that. Films like Captain America: Civil War blended politics with superhero action, and it looks like the MCU is ready to stir up the political landscape once again with its upcoming movie.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed how the Super-Soldier Serum can terrorize the world if it gets into the wrong hands. It also showed certain officials, like Sharon Carter, who are working for the government to be involved in the crime market, especially with black marketing of the serum.

Now, it has been well established that after Steve Rogers’ success, many have been secretly trying to replicate the serum, including Hydra and the US government itself. Thaddeus Ross has played an important role in this, as he is the one behind giving his imperfect serum to Emil Blonsky that turned him into Abomination.

Ross has always been the one who wanted control in his hands. After becoming the U.S. Secretary of State, he created the Sokovia Accords to have control over the Avengers, and he partially succeeded. Now in Captain America: Brave New World, Ross is going to be the new President of the U.S.

This situation feels similar to the real-life scenario, as America will be having Donald Trump as the new President as well. Moreover, the plot of Brave New World will deal with nations fighting to gain authority over Tiamut’s adamantium resource, much like the real world, where nations are always competing for resources.

Ross, played by Harrison Ford, is going to be the villain in the movie. He will also turn into Red Hulk, which will most probably be the result of his experimentation on Super-Soldier Serum. Since he will be portrayed as a negative character, both supporters and haters of Trump are likely to link him to Ross’ character, and it seems like netizens have already begun.

Trump supporters might get upset if his haters decide to relate Ross’ villainous actions to Trump, even if the real-life scenario is way different than the on-screen one. Besides this, Sam Wilson being the new Captain America, who is trying to fight against Ross, might give the critics another racial angle, no matter how bizarre it might seem at times.

Is Thaddeus Ross aka Red Hulk a Complete Villain?

In Marvel comics, Thaddeus Ross decides to become Red Hulk to gain power and control. This motivation is also seen in the movies so far, which might become the reason for Ross to transform into Red Hulk in Brave New World.

Ross might realize that he can’t have complete control over the superheroes through conventional means, which might force him to look for illegal alternatives. However, in the comics, although he was initially introduced as a villain, he was later shown joining the Avengers after Captain America’s request in one of the storylines.

Ross’ motivation to have control over the superheroes has its own reasons. His hatred for them began when he started seeing the destruction that comes with each of their battles, which his people have to suffer.

After he captured Scott Lang and Clint Barton at the end of Civil War, he let them go into house arrest as they were the only ones with families and kids. Besides that, he let go of Hulk when he realized he was the only one who could stop evil Abomination in The Incredible Hulk.

Ross is more of a single-minded, objective man who has always focused on protecting the U.S. by advancing in the military. Now, when he gets more power and access, his obsession to gain what he believes is peace through whatever means, might make him a villain.

Captain America: Brave New World will be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.
