Like a True Queen, Gal Gadot Says She “Feels Empowered” after Wonder Woman 3 Cancelation Let Her Focus on Other Projects
Gal Gadot is a prominent name in Hollywood. The Israeli model-turned-actor rose to fame with DC’s Wonder Woman franchise. The 38-year-old actor is also associated with the billion-dollar franchise Fast and Furious as Gisele Yashar. The DC and Warner Brothers backed Wonder Woman had made Gal Gadot a star overnight.
First Chris Hemsworth and now Gal Gadot, the actors are making headlines and creating waves across the world of entertainment. Recently the Thor actor spilled the beans on the exit from the billion-dollar Marvel Cinematic Universe. Similarly, actor Gal Gadot has announced her sabbatical from the reputed franchise DC.
Gal Gadot Breaks Her Silence On The Cancellation Of Wonder Woman 3
The Warner Bros. Discovery canceled Wonder Woman 3, in December 2022. The fate of Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince was handed over to the new leads of DCU- James Gunn and Peter Safran. Despite the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3, Gal Gadot appeared as the DC character in the 2023 released Shazam! Fury of the Gods and the recently released Ezra Miller’s The Flash.
During an interview with Total Film, Gal Gadot reflected back on her decision to take a sabbatical from playing the character of Wonder Woman. She said-
“To me, starting and developing stories that I’m passionate about is an incredible thing. The fact that I don’t have to sit still at home and just wait for the next offer is something that makes me feel empowered. I enjoy doing it, it keeps me alive.”
The Death On The Nile actor continued-
“I’m not only going to do my own projects. I’m going to work as an actress-for-hire still. But the fact that I can go ahead and tell the stories that I’m passionate about – from ideas that I conceived, or from ideas that I find fascinating from people that want to partner with us – it’s an incredible thing.”
Gal Gadot even mentioned the non-DCU projects that have been interested in them for a long time. The actor confessed-
“[It’s] something that I’m so grateful for and I am definitely going to continue that because it’s worth it. I’m very, very excited and humbly proud.”
After the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 was announced in December 2022, Gal Gadot spoke about her comeback to the role, and mentioned that she “can’t wait to share her next chapter with [fans]:”
“A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you.”
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Discovery would be going ahead with the Wonder Woman 3 project, but without original director Patty Jenkins.
Margot Robbie Wanted Gal Gadot In The Star-Studded List Of Barbie
Barbie cannot be a wonder woman and Wonder Woman cannot be Barbie. During an interview with the reputed media house Vogue, The Wolf Of The Wall Street actor Margot Robbie spoke about how desperately she wanted Gal Gadot to be a part of Greta Gervig’s Barbie. She mentioned-
“Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Because Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful, because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind, that it’s almost dorky. It’s like right before being a dork.”
Unfortunately, the Fast and Furious actor could not be associated with the star cast of Barbie. Though she had mentioned that she would love to be a part of the Barbie universe in the future. “I’m in for the next one sister!” Gal Gadot wrote on her Instagram story- “Can’t wait to watch it!”
Greta Gerwig’s movie Barbie would be hitting the theatres on July 21, 2023. The star-studded cast of Barbie features prominent names from the Hollywood playing the different versions of the titular doll, including Issa Rae, Dua Lipa, Hari Nef, Kate McKinnon, Ana Cruz Kayne, and Alexandra Shipp. The movie also features multiple Kens, played by actors Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu.
