Presented by celebrity couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the social experimental reality TV series Love Is Blind has garnered a large viewership since its premiere in 2020. The concept of the reality show is unique as single men and women date each other for ten days in purpose-built pods where they can talk to each other but not see each other. After a marriage proposal is set, the couple can meet face-to-face and see how their relationship goes as they get to know each other by living together in an apartment.

The audience has dubbed the show as ‘addictive but problematic,’ but reportedly it became Netflix’s number one trending problem during the COVID-19 pandemic. The reality series is near the conclusion of its eighth season, which followed the singles from Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, and has announced its reunion date. But fans have one request for the streaming channel.

Fans complain about more pod episodes over honeymoon drama in Love Is Blind S8

Netflix’s Love Is Blind, hosted by celebrity couple Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey, released six episodes of season 8 on Valentine’s Day, and where in the past the reality show has garnered the utmost attention; it failed to impress the audience with its latest season.

The format of the show remains the same. Single men and women enter an isolated pod where they solely form a connection via talking to each other. They are not allowed to look at each other as it only happens once they decide that they are ready to get engaged. The engaged couples get to live together in an apartment to know each other better and finally decide whether to marry or not.

Over the seven seasons, the format of the show hasn’t changed, but for season 8, fans noticed that there were more pod episodes compared to the honeymoon drama. The majority of the fans did not embrace the change because it was the honeymoon period when the couple meets in person, stays together to get to know each other, and of course, the drama happened.

A Reddit user mentioned that they had fallen asleep while watching the show and it was surprising for them to see that there were no couples during the honeymoon. They further said,

I feel like consistently this offers some drama to our couple, and this was so lacking. I would rather have less pod time and more honeymoon time vs. post-honeymoon, which felt so forced and confusing.

The user also added that they hoped that the network would give the audience the tea because this season feels like a snoozefest. Other users also shared the same emotion by stating that they fast-forwarded the episodes. The fans are hoping that the upcoming season will not have the same boring episodes, which does not excite them to come back to watching the show.

The little hope that fans have about the tea from the show is at the reunion episode, which is scheduled to premiere on March 9, 2025. The teaser teases that it could be an explosive and unexpected night. Fans sincerely hope that the creator of the show and Netflix will seriously take their suggestions about the changed format and work on it to make the upcoming season interesting.

Love Is Blind creator addresses ‘more pods episode’ in season 8

The creator of the series, Chris Coelen, in an interview with Variety, acknowledges why there were more pod episodes in Season 8 of Love Is Blind. He shared that about the pods episode; it’s always how the edit works out, adding that they film everything and go back to look at how they got there.

Coelen added,

We put the pieces together. As always, we’re trying to pick the stories that resonate and that we feel are worthy of telling because they lean into authenticity. People love the pods. It’s crazy to think about Season 1, Lauren and Cameron were doing the reveal at the end of Episode 1.

The creator shared everything is real and intense, and incredible love stories unfold in really fascinating ways in the pods. He noted that initially, they had thought that they didn’t have time to tell stories of love triangles, but now they embrace the fact that it’s incredibly emotional, dramatic, messy, and aspirational.

Chris Coelen also revealed that two couples were engaged that they didn’t follow. He added that in season 8 they have managed to tell more stories than they’ve ever told, which is why they have more pod episodes. Talking about the casting, he shared that it was great.

He added that they were just glad no contestant knew each other, pointing out that it was a terrific group that had everything. The reunion episode for Love Is Blind Season 8 airs on March 9, 2025.

Love Is Blind is available to stream on Netflix.
