One of the most shocking celebrity couples in history that you probably weren’t even aware of has to be Madonna and Tupac Shakur. Madonna herself revealed the fact in a 2015 appearance on the Howard Stern Show. And needless to say, it was quite a shock for everyone, and the tale of how the two hooked up is a pretty interesting one as well. It involved Shakur’s friend, actor Rosie Perez’s help to set the two up and even she recalled the fact with quite some pride and a smirk.
Madonna revealed she was dating Tupac Shakur two decades after the affair
Sources close to Tupac Shakur had revealed how Madonna was the first person to have his back when he was in prison for an allegedly false first-degree sexual abuse allegation. Even Pac said of his time in prison,
“Madonna was coming to visit me. Madonna has so much power that the guards let me take an extra shower.”
But of course, no one could trace a romantic involvement back then, until Madonna herself revealed it. Back in 1994, The Material Girl singer made an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman. That episode is notorious for Madonna’s rather fueled-up demeanor that some even called rude.
But it was over 20 years down the line when Madonna appeared on the Howard Stern Show that she revealed the reason behind the spectacle. She said,
“I was mad at [David Letterman] when I said the F-word a lot. I was in a weird mood that day. I was dating Tupac Shakur at the time and the thing is, he got me all riled up about life in general.”
She revealed the secret so nonchalantly as if it were no big deal but everyone was clearly taken aback by the revelation.
Rosie Perez revealed how she hooked up Madonna with Tupac Shakur
The couple first met in March 1993 at the Soul Train Music Awards in Los Angeles, as was revealed by Rosie Perez. She dished out the details of that event and what went down between the All Eyez On Me rapper and the Hung Up singer.
The Dance With The Devil actress recalled the day in 1993 when she attended the award function hand in hand with the Hit Em Up rapper. She said,
“We’re sitting in the front row and Madonna just goes [come here] and I said, ‘What?’ She goes, ‘Hook me up!’ And I said, ‘Pac, Madonna wants to hook up with you,’ and he said, ‘Where where!’ and that was it.”
Although, their relationship was kept very well under wraps, and almost no one at the time knew that they were dating but as per reports they had definitely gone their separate ways by 1995.
