Marvel Cinematic Universe is preparing for the debut of the iconic vampire hunter, Blade. The role will be played by Mahershala Ali in the solo MCU film with the movie set to be released in November 2025. A range of changes from the original version of the character are expected as Marvel attempts to present a modern take.

We have seen Wesley Snipes play the iconic vampire hunter in the film series Blade(1998), Blade II (2002), and Blade: Trinity(2004). These films are the reason why Blade is such a popular character. This popularity might as well be affected depending on the way Marvel decides to rewrite the story.

“Eric Brooks” aka Blade(which will be played by Mahershala Ali) was first introduced in 1973, in the comic book, The Tomb Of Dracula, as a supporting character by Marvel. The character was created by writer Marv Wolfman and penciler Gene Colan.

Marvel plans to change Balde’s personality by modernizing the character by bringing his vulnerable side and by adding tenderness which goes the complete opposite of what fans have seen and read about the character. Fans are bound to be wary of a cheesier Blade who cracks jokes and can be described as vulnerable. At the same time, Marvel is not expected to make any changes to how good a fighter he has been.

Blade, at least Wesley Snipes’s version, was indomitable and never shared or showed his pain or suffering. In Marvel comics, Blade was strong and also had a teenage daughter, “Bloodline,” who teamed up with superhero, Miles Morales, as the father-daughter duo often worked with him. Blade was also a frequent ally of Doctor Strange who cast a spell on his half-human-half-vampire daughter to protect her from their enemies. (Source: Screenrant)

The Eric Brook’s (Blade) version which Mahershala Ali will play in his upcoming film might bring joy and comic sequences in the film while maintaining the thrill of the character. However, that will depend on whose take fans end up enjoying more. Wesley’s, or Mahershala Ali’s?
