Major Game of Thrones Star Hints Return to Franchise in Jon Snow Spin-off Despite Colossal Failure of Season 8
In television’s history, Game of Thrones is one of the iconic shows that lasted a long time. The spectacular show was set in the famous continent of Westeros, where kingdoms and families battled for control of the magnificent Iron Throne. Based on the books written by George RR Martin, the HBO show brought many characters to life with its stellar cast. Talented actors in Hollywood, like Emilia Clarke, Pedro Pascal, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, and many others, were part of the show.
Game of Thrones aired in 2011 and ended after its eighth season in 2019. Despite the controversial ending of season eight, fans longed for more fantasy drama. The announcement of various sequels and prequels provided relief to them. After the successful run of House of the Dragons, the news of Kit Harington’s Jon Snow spinoff made waves. Now one of the major actors from the Game of Thrones wants to be part of the sequel.
Game of Thrones actor shows interest in being part of the Snow spinoff series
With the end of the iconic show, Game of Thrones, HBO announced its various sequels. The iconic show ran for eight seasons and had a controversial and disliked ending. Despite that, fans have been demanding more of the fantasy drama.
In June 2022, a sequel focusing on Kit Harington’s character Jon Snow was announced. As the news of the show made waves, one of the major Game of Thrones actors has shown interest in being part of the spinoff series.
Liam Cunningham, who portrayed Davos Seaworth, expressed interest in reprising his role and joining Harington. In an interview with Den of Geek, the actor revealed, when he learned about the sequel series, he texted Harington to inquire if his character would be a suitable fit for the series. Cunningham said, “I did send [Kit] a text saying, ‘Better Call Davos.'”
However, he further added he haven’t heard from the actor. He further added,
“I wish them the best to whoever’s involved in it, and if the check is big enough, I might even show up again!”
Involving Cunningham’s character in the spinoff series would be an interesting choice noting that Davos was a crucial ally for Jon Snow, sticking by his side as he ascended to the throne of the North.
Will Game of Thrones sequel Snow see the light of day?
After the successful run of Game of Thrones, the prequel House of the Dragons focusing on the Targaryens was released by HBO in August 2022. The prequel garnered enough attention to greenlight another season. Apart from that, a spinoff series focusing on Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, made waves.
The Jon Snow spinoff, tentatively titled Snow, would pick up where Game of Thrones Season 8 left off with Harington’s character. Francesca Orsi, head of drama at HBO, revealed the show is still in work, but it is early to determine whether it will go ahead.
While the spinoff series Snow might not happen, other Game of Thrones spinoffs are still in various phases of production. Another planned sequel includes A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, which will adapt Martin’s Tales of Dunk & Egg novella series.
Game of Thrones and the first season of House of the Dragon are available to stream on HBO Max.
