“Make sure you got what he said”: Starved for Attention, Kim Kardashian Gave a Smile That Would Creep Out the Joker After Chris Rock Called Her “Funny”
This bit took place in the pre-Will Smith-Chris Rock slap world. Just after the business mogul, Kim Kardashian took the SNL stage. The comedian Chris Rock praised the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and called her “funny”. This resulted in her beaming with happiness and sharing a wide smile, which many people found not so pleasing.
The Kardashians are not privy to the meme culture. One might say they have contributed more to the meme culture than to society. So when the star dropped by SNL to host, it gave the audience many “meme-able” moments. This, however, took place after the episode wrapped, at the post-show dinner party. And the smile is a direct contender with the grin she gave after her “revenge” one-liner in one of the earlier seasons of Keeping up with the Kardashians.
Chris Rock Called Kim Kardashian “Funny”
Kim Kardashian marked her SNL debut last year just after divorcing Ye. She was joined by several cast members at the after-party including Chris Rock, Blake Griffin, Tyler Cameron, and Amy Schumer. The Hulu cameras followed her for the new show The Kardashians. That is when Chris Rock commented on her debut performance, he declared she handled everything like a professional. He said,
“You were great,–“From the opening monologue, it was like ‘I am in control.’ It was like, comedy funny. It was like (you were) an actress or a comedian.”
To which the SNL host for the night blushed heavily. And in a very, The Office-esque way addressed the camera and demanded confirmation if the moment was recorded and shared a smile which was not a treat to the eyes according to many. She asked,
“Did you hear that? I want to make sure you got what he said. I was funny.”
To which Rock reiterated,
“She was very funny,”
Later, in the interview part of the Hulu show she confessed how much the comment meant to her. She said,
“Like, I’m not funny,–So the fact that he gave me this crazy compliment? I think he’s one of the all-time funniest people on the planet so I am just, like, dying inside.”
Fans can catch all episodes of The Kardashians including this one on the streaming service of the network Hulu.
Kim Kardashian’s Saturday Night Live Debut
According to many, Kim Kardashian gave out a great performance and an even greater O.J. Simpson joke that night. Along with Chris Rock, many were impressed by her performance and genuinely enjoyed it. Many applauded her for going with whatever digs the writers decided to take on her and her family as well as commended her on her delivery.
From dissing her ex-husband to addressing all the scary rumors about herself, her monologue had it all. In one of the moments in her monologue, she stated,
“Now I know we’re divided as a country, but I’d love America to come together, which is why I’m here to announce that I’m running for,–I’m just kidding, guys! I’m not running for president. We can’t have three failed politicians in one family.”
This apparently aggravated Ye and forced him to storm out of the interview. This is where she also met with her now ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson and shared a kiss on-screen.
All in all this move proved to be beneficial for the SKIMS owner.
