In her recent cover story for Wall Street Journal, actress Angelina Jolie without giving out too many details confirmed that she will be reprising the role of Maleficent for the third part of the movie. The third part will follow the event after the second part, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, which came out in 2019 and was set five years after the events in the original Maleficent which was released in 2014.
There has been no information on whether Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, or any other characters from previous movies would return. Jolie casually dropped the confirmation during the conversation by stating that she’d working on the Disney live-action movie when she was not busy with her other projects including producing a Broadway show and opening a stand-alone fashion venture.
