Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer on its own is seemingly doing well at the box office – with the genius filmmaker getting plaudits for his powerful storytelling.

Still, when compared to Barbie’s collection, the much-awaited documentary feature fails to make any noticeable tremble. The Margot Robbie-led film garnered a record-breaking $155 million opening collection in the United States and Canada. Meanwhile, the Cillian Murphy starrer could only take home $80.5 million on opening weekend.

Robbie’s colorful performance in Barbie Land has certainly overshadowed Murphy’s serious Manhattan project depiction – at least on the numerical front. Interestingly, a similar statistical dominance has come to light from Barbie’s behind-the-scenes antics.

How Margot Robbie Embarrassed Her Barbie Co-star Ryan Gosling

Margot Robbie‘s portrayal of Barbie has not only left Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer stint behind, but the 33-year-old has also drawn much of the spotlight away from Ryan Gosling.

The La La Land star plays the character of Ken, and much like the toy industry – where demand is mostly for the iconic doll Barbie and very little attention is paid to her sidekick Ken – Greta Gerwig’s movie also shines the brightest of the lights on Robbie, and deservedly so. The Wolf of Wall Street actress was phenomenal throughout the movie and carried the responsibility of a lead role to the tee.

Turns out, she was also topping charts when the cameras were off on the sets. The Barbie cast and crew were involved in a physical endurance challenge that was completely dominated by Robbie.

Indie505 shared a picture of the beautiful (and surprisingly strong!) actress proudly boasting the results of a challenge that required the participants to stay in the plank position as long as they could. She came second (4:10) – only behind the movie’s trainer David Higgins, who managed to cross the five-minute mark.

Impressively, Barbie also left her Ken behind by over a minute. In the movie, Gosling handled the role of a second lead brilliantly, but whether he accepted the embarrassment in the plank challenge as graciously remains unknown.

How Much Margot Robbie’s Co-star Ryan Gosling Was Paid for Barbie

The Blade Runner star remained behind Robbie with regard to the importance in the movie as well as in the physical endurance challenge.

However, when it came to taking home the cheque, the 42-year-old bagged as much as the female lead. Both Gosling and Robbie were reportedly paid $12.5 million for their work in the comedy-drama.

Considering the theme of Barbie – which has irked many men for its “woke” references – one might think the search for a male lead might’ve been tough for Gerwig. But she revealed to the New York Times that Gosling, in her mind, was part of the project from very early on.

After seeing his cameo on Saturday Night Live in 2017, the co-writer of the movie knew The Notebook’s Noah Calhoun was her ideal Ken.
