Martin Scorsese Claims Oscars Mean Nothing to Leonardo DiCaprio’s Killers of the Flower Moon Role That Will Endure Time Itself
Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese has taken over the entertainment industry once again with his most recent movie, Killers of the Flower Moon. The movie centered on the merciless murders of the Osage people after oil was found on tribal land. It has created a fair amount of buzz this awards season, and lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio not being nominated for an Oscar has shaken up the industry.
Over the years, Leonardo DiCaprio has given many award-winning performances. His portrayal of hitman Ernest Burkhart is also undoubtedly one of his best performances to date. Therefore, not being nominated for an Academy Award has come as a shock to the audience as well as Martin Scorsese himself.

Martin Scorsese has been working with Leonardo DiCaprio since 2002. They collaborated for the first time in the movie Gangs of New York. Their partnership has been one of the most financially successful in the industry. Killers of the Flower Moon is their sixth collaboration.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s bond with the Taxi Driver director is quite strong. Recently, the director has opened up about the Shutter Island star’s Oscar snub to Variety:
“He went so far into the complexities and contradictions of a man who was so weak, so malleable, who did such unspeakable things, but who also truly loved his wife. Leo fearlessly created a true Everyman … an Everyman that people just don’t want to acknowledge. So that will endure.”
Playing the role was a difficult task, and DiCaprio took it in stride. This has not been the first time that he played a challenging character and certainly would not be the last. However, it is truly saddening that he did not even get an Oscar nomination.

Gladstone’s parents were ecstatic to find out this news but were equally disappointed to find out Leonardo DiCaprio did not get a nomination. The Certain Women actress said:
“They were pissed. He [Leonardo DiCaprio] was the first to text me congratulations, with popping confetti. I told him how upset we all were. My nomination is equal parts his. I would not have been able to do what I did without his generosity as an actor and as a human being.”
DiCaprio has been quite supportive of his co-star. He also wrote a heartfelt post on Instagram to congratulate the actress on this huge achievement.
