Marvel Alienates More Fans By “Using” Iron Man and Captain America To Promote ‘The Marvels’ Despite No Connection To The Past
November 10, 2023, is the anticipated release date of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s film The Marvels, starring Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-Joon, and Samuel L. Jackson. The film is meant to be the continuation of the 2022 television series Ms. Marvel and the follow-up to 2019’s Captain Marvel.
Nia DaCosta, Megan McDonnell, and Elissa Karasik wrote the screenplay for The Marvels, the 33rd movie in the MCU universe. The film is a part of the MCU’s Phase Five. The movie’s final trailer was just published, sending fans into a frenzy and prompting some of them to criticize the companies’ marketing approach.
The Marvels’ final trailer features Iron Man and Captain America
Ahead of its release, the MCU released the final trailer for the highly awaited movie The Marvels, starring Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani as the lead, and the trailer features Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson’s involvement in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
The footage showcased in the final trailer features Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr. and Captain America, played by Chris Evans, deliberating their chances of success during time travel. Actress Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie in the MCU, was also seen in the trailer along with Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, providing the narration for the audience.
The final trailer for the movie takes a different route compared to the one that was released earlier and leans towards humor and leaves the identity of the antagonist unclear, but with the new trailer it is clear who the enemy is; Dar-Benn. The movie’s trailer also showcases it taking a dark and more serious tone, building up the anticipation for the audience and raising the stakes.
Fans call out Marvel Studios for using Iron Man and Captain America footage in The Marvels
Indeed, the actors in the movie have not been able to promote the movie the way they wanted to due to the SAG-AFTRA strike and the release date is almost near, so the studios would do anything they could to draw the attention of the audience to the theatres for them to watch the movie. But fans are not happy about them using the footage from Avengers: Endgame.
marvel using iron man and captain america to push the marvels gives off the same energy as DC thinking batman and superman was finna save the flash. LMAO https://t.co/K6FHCUwKdK

Adding footage of Iron Man and Captain America will not generate any hype and help save this movie, what're they even trying to do. This looks so desperate

Using Iron man won’t sell the movie 😂🤡

The final trailer comes after the report by Variety that the Marvel studios are planning to bring back the original Avengers for an Avengers movie, including Black Widow and Iron Man who were killed off in Avengers: Endgame. There has been no statement from the studios as of now regarding this.
Nia DaCosta defends The Marvels‘ short runtime
The director of The Marvels, Nia DaCosta, recently addressed the news about having the shortest-ever movie runtime with The Marvels, which is 105 minutes. She explained to Digital Spy,
“I really wanted it to be under two hours. I always think about the runtime, actually, when I go into a film. I just feel like there’s no need to have it long if you don’t need to, because 1 hour 45 minutes is pretty average for a movie, so we were all really excited.”
She added that one has to do what is right for the movie.
The Marvels comes out on November 10th.
