When Netflix announced that it would be making a live-action adaption of one of the most successful manga and anime series ever, there was some apprehension among fans. But since its release, One Piece has become the streaming service’s most successful anime to live-action adaptation to date.

The series brought a lot of fresh faces into the limelight by casting lesser-known actors in lead roles. With the fans wanting to see the actors in more diverse projects, the actors have already started getting fancasted in different roles. Some of these fan castings are a little too on-point to ignore.

The ever-evolving Marvel Cinematic Universe is always in search of talent to keep the unstopping bandwagon going. And the newly popular actors from One Piece have a lot of potential.

Iñaki Godoy who plays Luffy, the primary protagonist of the series is considered a great fit for playing the X-Men superhero the Nightcrawler. Godoy’s portrayal of easygoing, openly emotional Luffy won many hearts. But getting to play the nuanced, X-men superhero can be a great opportunity for Godoy, from a versatility point of view.

Godoy has a great physical resemblance with how the Nightcrawler is depicted in the comics. Moreover, the One Piece actor is barely in his 20s; which makes him in the perfect age bracket for playing the character. Marvel projects sometimes stay in the pipeline for a long while, as is a rumored X-Men project apparently titled The Mutants. Even if the project takes a couple of years,  Godoy would still be in his prime to play the part.

Emily Rudd in the SpiderVerse
