Marvel Reportedly Eyeing to Sideline Finn Jones for Female Led Iron Fist That Can Bring Back 1 Fan-Favorite Character
Marvel’s Iron Fist is a series created by Scott Buck, which is based on the character of the same name played by actor Finn Jones, which is set in the Netflix Marvel-verse. The series shares continuity with the other Netflix series’ leading to a crossover miniseries The Defenders. Iron Fist was the fourth Marvel series, which premiered on Netflix.
Apart from Finn Jones, who played the titular character, Jessica Henwick, Tom Pelphrey, Jessica Stroup, and Sacha Dhawan star in the series, along with others. Upon its premiere on Netflix, the 13-episode series received negative reviews from the critics. However, the series had a strong viewership, according to reports. The second season of the show received mixed reviews, which led to Netflix canceling the series in 2018. But a recent update states that Iron Fist might be coming back but with a different lead.
Marvel Studios working on bringing back Iron Fist with a female lead
According to industry insider Daniel RPK’s recent tweet, Marvel Studios is working on bringing back Iron Fist, but with a twist. The twist is that the series will no longer have Finn Jones’ Danny Rand as the lead, but instead, the studio is looking forward to bringing back a fan-favorite female character to lead the series.
Reports online suggest that Jessica Henwick, who has played the character of Colleen Wing in the two seasons of Netflix’s Iron Fist, might be the female lead Marvel is eyeing to bring back. Colleen Wing is a martial artist who runs her dojo in NYC.
According to ComicBook, during the events of the series showcased in the two seasons of Iron Fist, the powers of Iron Fist were being passed from one character to another. It landed with Wing, who was able to use them to summon her chi into her signature katana. After which, the series got canceled, but looking at the timeline of the events, it can be said that Wing had almost ten years to perfect her powers and sharpen her craft.
Wing has been one of the fan-favorite characters, and if she is expected to return to the MCU, the character might not need an origin story or explanation. According to a report by Collider, when the powers of Iron Fist passed onto Colleen Wing, ardent fans of the show and comic book seemed excited. The reason was that the apparent new lead seemed more exciting than the actual lead of the show. So it can be rightly said that Marvel Studios is eyeing to bring back Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing and keep Finn Jones’ Danny Rand as a supporting character.
Jessica Henwick wishes to play the Marvel character Colleen Wing again
In an interview with ComicBook, the actress Jessica Henwick, whose portrayal of Colleen Wing instantly garnered the attention of the audience, expressed her desire to play the character again. She said,
“Look, the way we left Iron Fist, spoiler alert, Colleen has the power and she’s in a really good place. I would love to revisit her. The character meant a lot to me and really changed by life. And I would love to revisit her one day, but it would really have to be the right place and the right time and the right script but never say never.”

In an interview with Collider, back in 2017, when asked what intrigued her to take upon the role of Colleen Wing, Henwick said,
“For me, I really liked the idea of playing a non-superhero on a superhero show, because in a world where there are people who can break things and throw things with their mind and having glowing fists, and they backflip everywhere. In a world where there are superpowers and super villains, to be mortal and still be like, ‘I need to put myself on the frontline’, takes so much courage and so that’s what I liked.”
The actress who was offered a part in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings turned it down. She instead took the opportunity to star in The Matrix Resurrections alongside Keanu Reeves. She noted that if she gets a call back from Marvel Studios, Wing might have some cool moves to show.
Iron Fist Season 1 & 2 is streaming on Disney+.
