Marvel Star Chris Pratt’s Family Went Broke as Soon as He Got Rich and Famous, $100M Rich Star Felt Pressured to Pay Their Debts
Renowned Chris Pratt, famously known for his diverse roles in the industry, is one of the most prominent celebrities in Hollywood. His success in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as his highly recognized Jurassic World franchise propelled him to the heights of A-listers, making him one of the richest in the industry.
However, at the pinnacle of wealth and status, it is not necessary that people and families around us have a secure life. As the saying goes, “More money, more problems”, the richest actor’s family suffered severe financial distress a decade ago.
Chris Pratt’s big bucks couldn’t save his family from financial woes
Chris Pratt has an extensive portfolio of highly successful films, which has proven him a leading bankable actor in Hollywood with a whopping $100 million. His career took off in the 1990s, Pratt made his breakthrough in the popular TV series Parks and Recreation. Later his iconic Marvel appearance as Star Load in Guardians of the Galaxy solidified his stardom, allowing him to command top dollar for roles in blockbuster movies.
Nevertheless, in Star magazine (Radar Online), an insider stated that Pratt found himself in a great dilemma about saving his family from severe financial ruin.
“Most of the family has had its share of financial problems. Chris doesn’t come from a lot of money. He has worked hard for what he’s got.”
It was revealed that Pratt’s parents, along with his sister and brother, filed for bankruptcy. His brother, Cully Pratt, an artist, was going through an acute tussle and had reportedly become so dire as to the point of “starving again”. His mother, Kathy, worked in the meat department of a grocery store, and his sister was a sales rep.
Chris Pratt’s empathy doesn’t make him their lifeline
Even though Chris Pratt deeply cares for his family, he grapples with a sense of conflict with them. While he empathized with the struggles of his beloved family, Pratt believed that he worked hard to make his life better and settle, and he also thought that his family members had to find a way to solve their problems.
A source close to him said that Pratt feels “torn” for not providing financial assistance to his family.
“Chris knows what it’s like to struggle with money, but he feels like he worked his butt off and cleaned up his life by himself — and that they should be able to do the same,”
Pratt felt immense pressure to bail his family out of their misery, but he hated seeing them struggling, while at the same time, he didn’t want to be a hope that he would give them a leg up in their money mess. “The whole situation is a strain on Chris,” the friend added.
His father, Dan Pratt, passed away on June 30 after a 20-year battle with multiple sclerosis. During his difficult times, Pratt was a constant source of support for his father and was the only helping hand for his family in affording all the financial expenses at the hospital.
