Matt Damon is Scared of George Clooney, Does Not Dare to Seek Revenge Against Him Even After His Brutal Pranks
Matt Damon and George Clooney have collaborated on multiple films, some were great successes while others turned out to be box-office bombs. The actor’s friendship blossomed through it all. Clooney being the star he is, has a bit of a reputation, and working with him could be intimidating for anyone. Damon was no exception to this. His fear or rather intimidation of Clooney did not go away with time, but the reason for it certainly changed.
In an interview, Damon revealed how he was afraid to fight back to Clooney’s pranks on set and wouldn’t dare challenge him.
Matt Damon Scared of George Clooney’s Pranks
Having worked with the ER actor before in the Ocean’s Films trilogy, Matt Damon was aware of George Clooney‘s capabilities when it came to practical jokes and the extent they could go to. Even so, he was not ready for what The American actor pulled off while the pair were working on the 2014 war film The Monuments Men.
Damon played Lieutenant James Granger, who was a museum curator among the Monuments Men. The film which Clooney directed himself, was set in the time of the Second World War. The actors are part of a platoon that works to obtain culturally important objects from Nazi Germany.
The team had to be in military gear and donne suits. Clooney made the costume department gradually alter Damon’s clothes in a way that made the air star believe he was gaining weight.
Damon although disappointed didn’t dare retaliate, cause he knew full well the extent Clooney’s practical jokes could go. He said:
“I’ve never tried to get George back for anything because I just know the countermeasures are going to be so severe.”
Seeing that the clothes prank lasted for weeks, no one would doubt Damon’s fears. However, Damon didn’t pass up the opportunity of teasing his friend, when he got the opportunity to give a speech in Clooney’s honor.
“George, I know a lot of people think you have movie-star looks, but let’s be honest, it takes a village to style the star. PEOPLE Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive — I’ve been there, those experts can transform anyone.”
Damon joked that with the care and pampering Clooney gets, anyone can look good.
George Clooney: The Ultimate Prankster
George Clooney is quite the prankster with his films. Not only his co-stars but his friends and family are often subjected to his tomfoolery. In one instance, he organized a private screening of the film for his father and had the end credits read: “In loving memory of Nick Clooney.”
Someone with Clooney’s stardom and accomplishments would not be expected to be a prankster. Just one of the reasons why he is so great.
