Matt Damon On His Deal With Director Christopher Nolan
During the promotions of the his upcoming sci-fi epic drama, Matt Damon spoke to the media outlet Entertainment Weekly. The actor confessed that he was supposed to take a break from his acting career, but if he is offered a Christopher Nolan movie, he might put his break on a hold. The Ford V Ferrari actor had one of the most spectacular projects of Christopher Nolan coming his way. He mentioned-
“This is going to sound made up, but it’s actually true. I had — not to get too personal — negotiated extensively with my wife that I was taking time off. I had been in ‘Interstellar’ and then Chris put me on ice for a couple of movies, so I wasn’t in the rotation, but I actually negotiated in couples therapy — this is a true story — the one caveat to my taking time off was if Chris Nolan called. This is without knowing whether or not he was working on anything because he never tells you. He just calls you out of the blue. And so, it was a moment in my household.”
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is supposed to be one of the biggest summer blockbusters of 2023. Even Cillian Murphy, who is playing the role of the titular character in the movie, was excited on getting a call from the Dunkirk director. The Peaky Blinders star recalled while talking to the Associated Press–
“He’s so understated and self-deprecating and, in his very English manner, just said, ‘Listen, I’ve written this script, it’s about Oppenheimer. I’d like you to be my Oppenheimer. It was a great day… We have this long-standing understanding and trust and shorthand and respect. It felt like the right time to take on a bigger responsibility. And it just so happened that it was a huge one.”
Oppenheimer has already created a lot of buzz months before its release. The star studded cast of the movie mentions one of the most high profile A-listers from the world of entertainment.

“When you are at the center of a movie at that scale, shooting seven scenes in a day, it takes a different focus and concern and commitment. It’s beautiful to watch someone give themselves to it fully.”
In the same interview, the Inception actor Cillian Murphy even spoke about the physical transformation that was required to get into the shoes of the character of the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. He said-
“I love acting with my body, and Oppenheimer had a very distinct physicality and silhouette, which I wanted to get right. I had to lose quite a bit of weight, and we worked with the costume and tailoring; he was very slim, almost emaciated, existed on martinis and cigarettes. He had these really bright eyes and I wanted to give him this wide-eyed look, so we worked on his silhouette and expressions a lot before starting.”
Oppenheimer would witness its nationwide theatrical release on July 21, 2023.
