Matt Damon’s Embarrassing Feud With a Local Wine Seller Didn’t End Well For the Actor After Getting Humiliated in Front of John Krasinski
Matt Damon has been in the limelight for quite a while. The Air actor is known for his jovial spirit and convivial nature among his colleagues. The stories and anecdotes shared by his celebrity friends in interviews are a testament to this fact. The Academy Award winner shares a deep friendship with John Krasinski.
And as best buds do, The Office alum shared an in-detail happenstance that involved a strangely intimidating wine seller and ended with a furious Matt Damon.
Matt Damon’s Feud with a Wine Seller
Matt Damon’s killer acting skills and contributions to the film industry have made him a household name. From getting an Oscar for his first film ever as a screenwriter to producing the best of films, Damon is a huge part of how a generation of viewers envision the film industry.
Being a celebrity, you get used to being recognized. And the Good Will Hunting actor was not an exception. However, this presumption of his did not go over well when he showed up at a wine shop with no ID and his good friend, John Krasinski.
In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Krasinski recounted the incident of Damon forgetting to carry his ID to a wine shop. Damon tried to use his fame to get away with it and the wine seller refusing to recognize The Bourne Identity star, things got embarrassing. As the Jack Ryan star recalled in a fit of laughter:
“He goes to this wine shop all the time to get wine for different events. He bought a bunch of wine, gave his credit card and he didn’t have his ID on him. And this guy was like ‘No’. Matt was like ‘No problem, I come in here all the time. I promise I am who I say I am.’ And he’s like ‘No, you don’t have your ID.’ So Matt slowly takes his hat off and he’s like, ‘I am who’s on the card. And the whole time I’m like this is so embarrassing.”
Krasinski further continued that the wine seller claimed not to know Matt Damon, which caused the Hollywood actor to be angry. He later rummages through his house to find something to show the guy and shows up at the shop with a German GQ to tell him that he lost a “major customer”. Things got even more hilarious when not only did the guy not care about losing business with Matt Damon, but he also praised John Krasinski’s work on The Office.

Even as the situation was not ideal for Matt Damon, the several awards sitting in his living room would have surely helped him heal his little ego bruise.
Matt Damon and John Krasinski’s Friendship
The absolute chaos of this incident is not a one-off. Based on several interviews and media appearances over the years, it is safe to say that Damon and Krasinski make a chaotic duo. Hence, it is only natural that this is how they started out.
They met on set; when Damon was working with Emily Blunt, who is married to Krasinski. Blunt played Damon’s on-screen wife. And the day Krasinski decided to show up on set, is when, as Damon put it had his tongue in Krasinski’s wife’s mouth. That’s surely one hell of an icebreaker.
