MCU Boss Demands Ms. Marvel Season 2 from Kevin Feige: “It’s great to see more demand”
The seventh television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ms. Marvel, initially appeared to be a little experiment from Disney, who decided to move away from their franchise films to showcase the dedicated narrative of the 16-year-old fangirl of the Avengers through a mini-series.
The show follows the story of Kamala Khan, who goes from writing superhero fan fiction based on the likes of Captain Marvel to fighting her own battles with the help of newly obtained superpowers.
With a refreshing cast, including Canadian prodigy Iman Vellani and Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan, and a comparatively light-hearted plot, Disney managed to hit a bull’s eye with their experiment, earning 98% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
MCU Boss Gives Her Thoughts on Season 2 of MS. Marvel
Marvel Studios not only drifted away from their usual serious and intricate plots to make Ms. Marvel happen, but they also introduced a big change in the character that is originally inspired from Marvel Comics.
In the show, Iman Vellani‘s character has the ability to manifest energy into any shape she wants, which allows her to throw beams of energy. But in the comics, Ms. Marvel is largely limited to extending her limbs, shape-shifting, and turning into anything.
The bold move from the producers certainly worked and Ms Marvel attracted significant viewers, and a further demand from fans for a sequel.
The show’s producer Sana Amanat noted the same during the Women of Marvel panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. She said: “It’s great to see more demand. You know, complain. I’m happy to have you guys complain to [Marvel Studios President] Kevin [Feige], let’s get a Season 2.”
Kevin Feige is yet to find a concrete solution for MCU’s big project, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty – which is in limbo due to controversy surrounding its lead Jonathan Majors. As such, he might have too much on his plate to think about Disney’s mini-series.
Marvel Star Iman Vellani in Dark Over Show’s Future
Like Ms. Marvel fans, Vellani is also uncertain about the show’s future, and was quick to shoot down questions over any details, stating: “They [Marvel] don’t tell me anything.”
But Kamala’s admirers can catch her in The Marvels, which is penned for a theatrical release in November of this year. She features in the film’s trailer in a new costume.
The Marvels will focus on Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson. Also known as Carol Danvers, the character has reclaimed her identity from Kree but now finds herself carrying the burden of a destabilized universe.
