MCU Fans Want Marvel To Recast Hawkeye Following Abuse Allegations
Hawkeye is undoubtedly one of the most underserved character in the MCU. He first appeared in Thor before joining the Avengers in the team up movie. But in the first Avengers movie he ended up playing Loki’s pawn and entirely sat out Avengers: Infinity War (which the writers tried to explain away). However, Hawkeye did return for Avengers: Endgame. He is also set to star in a Hawkeye Solo show on Disney+. The series will reportedly see Clint handing off the mantle of Hawkeye to Kate Bishop. But some fans want Marvel to drop Jeremy Renner to stop him from further appearing as Hawkeye.
Why MCU Fans Want Marvel To recast Hawkeye?
The controversy surrounding him is in regards to the allegations of drug use on Renner’s part. But it doesn’t just stop at drug abuse, Renner’s ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco also accused him of threatening to kill her and then himself. These allegations surfaced during a custody battle for their daughter Ava.
Marvel Considering Either Recasting Or Removing Hawkeye
After these allegations came to light, twitter users and movie scoopers Daniel Richtman and Grace Randolph both cited sources saying that Marvel was looking to reduce Renner’s presence or recast Renner from the upcoming Hawkeye show. But these rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt since both these scoopers have a very spotty record. But if Marvel and its parent company does go with it then they will certainly have the support of fans. Fans are hoping for his removal also because they want someone deaf or hard of hearing to play Hawkeye since he is so in the comics.
So lets listen to what the fans are saying on Twitter:
Now would be the perfect time to make Hawkeye #Deaf in the MCU like he is in comics. Get a Deaf actor like @NyleDiMarco to play Hawkeye and let him work with Hawkeye Kate Bishop. It would be AMAZING! https://t.co/6CX7HSyFiT

Y’all swapped Terrence Howard for Don Cheadle on some “They all look alike” business, so I see no issue with chucking Renner the deuce, hiring Charlie Hunnam, and saying not a damn thing about it. https://t.co/m8WU06V02T
