Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, famously considered leaving his post in the mid-2000s after years of overseeing other studios’ projects and working on his own beloved creations. He was about to leave Marvel Studios during its Phase 2 to take over the DC Universe. But here we are today, recognizing what he has accomplished by bringing superheroes to life onscreen in the form of the MCU franchise (which has earned over $26 billion at the box office to date).

Kevin Feige Almost Betrayed Marvel

According to the report by Matthew Belloni of Puck News, Marvel’s own Kevin Feige considered leaving Marvel for DC after Phase 2. Apparently, this happened as a result of Kevin Feige growing unhappy with the limitations of what movies he and his team were able to make and which characters they were allowed to use. Thankfully, Feige eventually came around while Belloni speculates that it was due in no small part to Disney coming on board as CEO of Marvel Entertainment, the company that oversees Marvel Studios. This is what Belloni’s report echoed loud –

Zaslav could make another run at Feige, who, I’m told, talked pretty seriously with Warners a few years ago when he was angling to escape the oversight of Marvel’s then-madman C.E.O. Ike Perlmutter. (Iger and Horn ended up siding with Feige, smartly.)

The President Considering Making The Move Is Something Noteworthy

It’s no secret that Kevin Feige and Ike Perlmutter had their differences, but it is not surprising to hear that the latter tried to get the former to leave his place at Marvel Studios. However, according to the new report, there may be more to the story than anyone first guessed – where it has been revealed that Feige might have seriously considered leaving Marvel for DC to work on some of its DCEU-based films.

People are talking about Disney’s decision to not look for a replacement for Kevin Feige, even though he recently signed and extended his deal with Marvel Studios. Disney may promote Louis D’Esposito if Feige left to work on the DC Films division. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios under Ike Perlmutter would likely struggle to diversify as much and Feige’s overall plan for Phase 4 of the MCU might fall short.
