Billy Ray Cyrus’ first marriage with Cindy Smith ended in 1991. His most famous marriage was with Tish Cyrus for almost 30 years. Billy and Tish married in 1993, and they shared 5 kids together.

Their marriage only lasted till the honeymoon phase. Within a few months of their wedding, Billy Ray Cyrus took to court to divorce Firerose in May 2024. As per In Touch, Cyrus reasoned “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” for their divorce and also requested an annulment on grounds of fraud.
The divorce turned controversial, with Cyrus reportedly seeking a restraining order against Firerose. In court filings, she was accused of allegedly making unauthorized charges on items like flights, Venmo payments, and $50,000 to a law firm.
“Upon learning of the fraudulent use of Mr. Cyrus business American Express Card, American Express was notified, and the thirty-seven unauthorized charges are being disputed as fraudulent charges,” the filings stated as per In Touch.
Cyrus later revealed that Firerose’s law firm paid back $45,000 later. According to the Associated Press, the settlement was made, and neither party would be paying spousal support, and most of their assets would be divided based on what each person owned before they got married. However, according to In Touch, Cyrus’ net worth fell from $20 million in 2023 to $10 million in 2024.
Miley Cyrus’ Complicated Relationship With Her Father
Miley has had a complicated relationship with Billy. Although both singers have experienced fame, Miley believed her experience was way different than her father. On her Hulu special Endless Summer Vacation: Continued (Backyard Sessions), Miley said (via People),
My dad grew up the opposite of me. I grew up on a soundstage, like, in a house with a family that was super close and all lived under the same roof, and I grew up financially stable and emotionally stable, I think, in my relationships also. That’s something that my dad didn’t have.
The pop icon further said,
I do have a lot of great memories singing music with my dad and learning and watching his voice and the way that he’s using the instrument. I will say that I feel vocally my dad was under-appreciated.
Moreover, Billy has supported Miley’s sexuality throughout. In an interview with E! News, the country singer said, “We’ve always been very open-minded. Listen, it’s all about love and light. Forget the negativity and the haters.”
However, sometimes it also seems that her parents’ divorce was not received well by Miley.
