Monaghan’s Merry From Lord Of The Rings Trilogy Has Never Watched The Original Trilogy
Merry, played by Dominic Monaghan, in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy revealed that he has never watched original movies and doesn’t have any plan to do so.
The Rise Of Monaghan
The Lord of the Rings’ Merry, a character played by actor Dominic Monaghan, admitted that he has never watched the original film trilogy. Jackson’s adaptation of the JRR Tolkien novels debuted in 2001 with The Fellowship of the Rings. Each film has a run-time of over three hours and has released initially between 2001 and 2003. Hailed by the Middle Earth enthusiasts and fans, The Lord of the Rings managed to land a box office collection of almost $3 billion. While the film trilogy got nominated for around 30 Oscars, it won a total of 17 prestigious awards. That is why it is perhaps known for the greatest movies ever made.
Dominic Monaghan is well known in Britain for starring in Hetty Wainthropp Investigates. Later he joined the advertising fellowship with Pippin (Billy Boyd). From that point, Pippin and Merry became even more significant in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Dominic Monaghan’s role helped him to earn instant notoriety to the global audiences and soon, the actor got an opportunity to play in ABC’s mystery drama, Lost. He continued playing Charlie in Lost between 2006 and 2010 and for a span of around 70 episodes. With that being said, Dominic Monaghan has even showed up playing in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.
Monaghan’s Comment On Watching The Original Trilogy
In a recent interview, Monaghan echoed how the Hobbit trilogy helped him launch his career. But at the same time, he admitted that he has never watched the trilogy and does not have any plan to watch it anyway.
Monaghan echoed that he didn’t knew or know about it much. With that being said the actor seemed quite confused and unsure about how healthy it’d be to think about it anyway. Monaghan also echoed how he liked playing the character during the shooting days and how the journey has so far dictated a huge part in his life. Apparently, he didn’t watched Lord of the Rings for around 15 years and has no plan to watch it either. While the film includes a few very good artists and his friends, the actor is equivalently proud playing the character and sharing the screen with his people.
While his comments could be surprising for many fans, the film has somewhat dominated the actor’s life in the last couple of years. This makes a complete sense why he wants to focus on the future instead. With all being said, Monaghan has played a small cameo in the prequel movies and thus, fans may expect him to return soon, but in small parts, of course.
