The hip-hop icon’s personal life is as famous as his chart-topping hits. Although his love life has not been filled with many celebs, the few affairs he had were just as complex as his rhymes. Among all of them, the one relationship he had with an iconic singer has been the most dramatic.
Eminem-Mariah Carey Relationship Drama
Eminem‘s love life has been far from simple. The rapper has been married twice to his high school love, Kim Scott. Their first marriage was in 1999, which ended in 2001. Then they married again in 2006, which lasted for a year.
However, despite their troublesome marriage, which was also quite public at the time, they share a daughter, Hailie Jade, who recently got married and shared her pregnancy news as well. After Eminem’s separation from Scott, he had a few rumored relationships, but none of them was as serious as Mariah Carey.
Though the alleged couple was not serious about their relationship, the matter got serious afterward when they started speaking about their affair. Eminem said on Shade 45 channel (via People),
Yes, me and Mariah did have a relationship for about a good six, seven months. (But) it didn’t work. I wasn’t really into what she was into; our personalities collided. She’s a diva, and I’m a little more regular, I guess.
However, Carey told a different story. The singer consistently denied that she was ever romantically involved with Eminem. She claimed that they only met a few times, and it was completely professional. She told Larry King (via Complex),
I hung out with him, I spoke to him on the phone. I think I was probably with him a total of four times. And I don’t consider that dating somebody.
Then their he-said-she-said situation turned into a musical feud. Eminem started referencing and dissing Carey in his songs as he felt offended after she denied they had something. Carey, in return, released her track Clown, which many believed to be directed towards the rapper.
Their beef continued, and Eminem released more tracks like The Warning, where he seemingly took a dig at her. Carey’s former husband Nick Cannon also interfered in their beef, and things turned pretty chaotic. However, they both moved on with their lives eventually.
Eminem’s Current Love Life
It looks like Eminem is going solo as of now. Despite his name and fame, he is not romantically involved with anyone, and there are reasons behind it. According to an insider who spoke to In Touch, Eminem is “too paranoid to give any woman a shot.”
The insider revealed that the rapper is still not completely over his past failed relationships and has “trust issues.” However, the insider also said that Eminem’s friends believe that he is lonely and they wish “he’d let his guard down and open up to finding love again.”
Although Eminem said to Rolling Stone that he would “like to be in a relationship again someday”, he also said to Vulture that he is not into dating. He confessed,
Since my [2006] divorce, I’ve had a few dates and nothing’s panned out in a way that I wanted to make it public. Dating’s just not where I’m at lately.
Eminem always had a small circle of friends whom he loved and trusted, and he continues to do that. Currently, the rapper is busy releasing heart-touching music and preparing to be a grandfather.
