What Is the Plot of Mushoku Tensei Season 3?

Instead of Rudeus, this season is going to kick off with Eris. The first episode is going to give us a perspective of Eris. As you know, after she realized that she was not good enough for Rudeus, she left him to get stronger. So, we are going to see what she was up to while Rudeus was dealing with his own unique set of problems and finding his mother.

Together with Ghislaine, she arrived at the Holy Land of Swords, declared that she would one day defeat the Dragon God Orsted, and began training under the Sword God, Gal Farion, where she met a fellow disciple, Nina, who had already made a name for herself as a Sword Saint. Fun fact: Nina was seen in the second season of the anime as the mysterious blue-haired girl in the institute.

This season is going to cover the story starting from Volume 13 of the Light Novel. Furthermore, while this season is going to start off as a magical slice-of-life, there are going to be some of the darkest moments of this story present in it.

Voice Cast: Who’s Returning and Who’s New

Yumi Uchiyama is going to continue her role as Rudeus, even for his adult voice. Furthermore, Ai Kakuma is returning to voice Eris as well. Megumi Toyoguchi is also returning for her role as Eris’s teacher, Ghislaine. While not all of the returning cast have been formally confirmed by Crunchyroll or the official website, we can generally expect every major character to have the same voice.

However, there are two new additions confirmed. Tetsu Inada is going to voice Gal Farion. Previously, he voiced Endeavor in My Hero Academia. Furthermore, Haruka Tomatsu is going to be voicing Nina Farion. She is well known for providing her amazing voice to characters such as Asuna from Sword Art Online, Zero Two from Darling in the FranXX, and Hori from Horimiya.

Is There a Trailer for Mushoku Tensei Season 3?

A first teaser PV for the season premiered on YouTube in June 2025, which was basically the season announcement. A new visual featuring Eris as a “Sword King” was revealed during the January 2026 anniversary livestream (as per Mushoku Tensei official news post), with additional promotional videos and key visuals following on the official X account (via the official Mushoku Tensei X account) leading up to the July premiere.

The latest trailer was released on June 4, 2026, on the TOHO Animation YouTube channel, which gave us a better look at the season. In this trailer, we can see Rudeus is living a happy life with both of his lovers, his mother, and his newborn baby. However, it also looked like there were going to be some action-heavy sequences in this season as well, and we’ll get to see Roxy and Rudeus fighting side by side once more.
