Will Smith has entertained audiences with his remarkable performances for decades. His popularity has earned him millions of fans around the world. The actor had a remarkable career with diverse filmography. The Independence Day actor boasted his net worth by appearing in nearly every genre.
Smith received a lot of attention after his famous Oscar slap. The actor was in the spotlight and got banned from the Academy after the 2022 incident involving Chris Rock. Over the years, the King Richard star has been surrounded by controversies. During his talk with his friend Kevin Hart on Hart to Heart, Will Smith revealed some professional and personal details of his life. The 54-year-old shared the things he regret in life and how they affected his family.
Will Smith opens up about his family’s misery
Will Smith was driven by the desire to be the biggest movie star on the planet. He achieved his goal by starring in blockbuster films. For years, he has been synonymous with movie office success, with films such as the Men in Black and Bad Boys series, Independence Day, Aladdin, and Hancock. Despite all the success, the actor had a major regret in his life.
In the season three finale of Kevin Hart’s Peacock TV show, Hart to Heart, the 54-year-old spoke candidly about the unhappiness his family experienced during the early stages of their rising success. Smith revealed he honestly believed he had fulfilled his lifelong dreams after seeing his kids follow a profession in the entertainment sector.
His two children, Jaden, and Willow Smith, rose to stardom at an early age. The Men In Black star said,
“2010 was like the greatest year as an artist, as a parent. Karate Kid came out in June, Whip My Hair came out in October. I’m building this dream of a family I’ve had in my mind. ‘I’m going to do it better than my father did it.’ We’ve talked about it, my father was abusive.”
The Independence Day actor had a vision of an ideal family and believed that from 2010 to 2012 he had achieved the dream. But despite that, his family was not happy. Smith added,
“Yet, nobody in my family was happy. No one wanted to be in a platoon. Willow was the first one to begin the mutiny and it was my first realisation that success and money don’t mean happiness. Up until that point, I really believed that you could succeed your way, to a house and a family, and you could win your way to happiness.”
Although Will Smith’s children’s careers were taking off, they have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the actor’s decision to thrust them into the spotlight at such a young age.

He is currently pursuing his dream of being a rapper and vocalist. As a featured artist on Justin Bieber’s album Justice, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2022.
Will Smith’s daughter Willow Smith has also dabbled in film, but her primary focus has been on the music industry. She released her fifth studio album, Coping Mechanism, in 2022.
