Warning: Spoilers for My Hero Academia manga!

The final war saga of My Hero Academia is presently underway, and the narrative is getting very close to its conclusion. It seems that Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia, is currently on schedule to complete the story a few months later, as he had previously stated that he intended to wrap the series in 2024.

However, My Hero Academia possibly has the worst sense of timing. After the recent chapters, the popular series just emerged with a collaboration with Pizza-La, one of Japan’s best pizza delivery chains.

When Izuku Midoriya lost his Quirk towards the end of the Final War, My Hero Academia turned his entire world upside down. After accepting One For All from All Might at the beginning of the narrative, Deku finds himself Quirkless again.

My Hero Academia Fans Are Having a Meltdown Over The Latest Collaboration

It’s ironic that Deku is once again Quirkless in My Hero Academia. He began his quest as a Quirkless person, and prior to the greatest battle of his life, the aspiring No. 1 Hero lost his quirks once more. What’s even more ironic is the collaboration of My Hero Academia with Pizza-La, given that Deku is practically jobless now after losing his Quirk.

Fans are currently losing their minds over the collaboration, taking to X to express their frustration. The collaboration revealed an official illustration of Deku working at a fast-food place, wearing a work shift uniform, and holding a pizza and pizza cutter.

An X user claimed this to be the worst-timed collaboration in history, and we must agree that the timing couldn’t get any worse. It almost seems like an attempt to mock Deku, who is already being ridiculed for losing his Quirk.

Is Izuku Midoriya Quirkless Now?

It all began when Shigaraki robbed Deku of Hinomori, the fourth One For All user, and his quirk- Danger Sense. This gave rise to the scheme to force One For All into the villain’s possession so that the previous users might destroy him from within.

After this, the plan took several significant detours, but in the end, it worked. In Chapter 423, while Shigaraki and One For All’s previous users crushed the centuries-old evil from within, Deku used the last remaining embers in him to punch All For One.

Deku was in a horrifying state having lost both of his arms to Shigaraki’s Decay in the fabricated universe. Even though Eri’s Rewind was able to heal Deku, he had given Shigaraki access to all the remnants of the One For All users’ past.

Everything happened in line with Kudo’s plan. Deku rendered the antagonist vulnerable to the harm that the Quirks of the former One For All users inflict by transferring them to Shigaraki. But this also put Deku in a difficult situation.

Following a great deal of conjecture on Deku’s status, the budding hero affirms in My Hero Academia Chapter 421 that he no longer has a Quirk. He has transferred all of the powers of One For All and the Quirks of every previous user to Shigaraki. That means all of those now belong to All For One.

Frequently asked questions

What is the My Hero Academia x Pizza-La collaboration that upset fans?

My Hero Academia partnered with Pizza-La, one of Japan’s leading pizza-delivery chains, releasing official artwork showing protagonist Izuku ‘Deku’ Midoriya in a fast-food work-shift uniform holding a pizza and a pizza cutter. Fans found the timing painful because, after the manga’s Final War arc, Deku has lost his Quirk and is effectively powerless, so a ‘working a part-time fast-food job’ image felt like salt in an open wound.

Why is Deku considered Quirkless again in the manga right now?

As part of the heroes’ plan against the villain, Deku transferred One For All and all the stockpiled Quirks of its previous users into Tomura Shigaraki so those former users could destroy All For One from within. In Chapter 421, Deku confirms he no longer has a Quirk, leaving him Quirkless once more, just as he was at the very start of the series. This is a manga spoiler that anime-only viewers haven’t reached yet.

Is My Hero Academia’s manga actually ending, and who is the creator?

My Hero Academia is written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi and serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Horikoshi had stated he intended to wrap the series up in 2024, and the climactic Final War arc is near its conclusion. Exact final-chapter timing should be treated as the creator’s stated plan rather than a fixed guaranteed date.
