“My life as a single man was done”: Johnny Depp Revealed He Fell In Love With ‘The Ninth Gate’ Co-Star Vanessa Paradis After Seeing Her Exposed Back
Actor Johnny Depp has been in the headlines this year because of his highly publicized defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard. The actor was also accused of assaulting Heard and during the trial, Depp’s ex-partner, Vanessa Paradis testified in his defense. The two were together for roughly 14 years. The actor described Paradis as the “love of his life.” The two share two kids together, daughter, Lily-Rose Melody Depp, and son, John Christopher “Jack” Depp III. The actor has explained in the past that they instantly connected after they met on the sets of the 1999 movie The Ninth Gate.

Actor Johnny Depp met French singer Vanessa Paradis met on the set of the 1999 movie The Ninth Gate. The actor described their first meeting,
“It was the Hôtel Costes. She was wearing a dress with an exposed back and I saw that back and that neck, and then she turned around and I saw those eyes, and – boom! My life as a single man was done.”
The actor instantly fell in love with her and later called her the “love of his life.” The singer similarly described their connection. She explained that when they met in Paris, they both felt like they were in the “same world and free and it was just instant.”
They share two children
Roughly one year into their relationship, the two welcomed their first child, daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp on May 27, 1999. The actor has revealed in the past that his daughter’s birth song is Keith Richards’ The Nearness of You as the actor sang this to her as she was born. In 2002, the couple welcomed their second child, son John Christopher “Jack” Depp III. They never got married as the actor believed that it is just a “piece of paper” and “marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart.”
They ended their relationship in 2012
Despite having perfect chemistry, their relationship, unfortunately, came to an end in 2012. It was announced in June 2012 by Depp’s publicist who claimed that they need privacy. After a while, Depp publicly addressed the split,
“The last couple of years have been a bit bumpy. At times, certainly unpleasant, but that’s the nature of breakups, I guess, especially when there are kiddies involved. It doesn’t stop the fact that you care for that person, and they’re the mother of your kids. You’ll always know each other, and you’re always gonna be in each other’s lives because of those kids. You might as well make the best of it.”
After ending his relationship with Vanessa Paradis, the actor started dating actress Amber Heard, however, they split up only after 15 months. Heard later accused Depp of sexually assaulting her. During the trial, Paradis defended the actor saying that he was a “sensitive and loving person” throughout their relationship.
