“My man’s a free thinker”: Jennifer Lopez’s Ex-Partner Diddy Believed Kanye West is Ahead of His Time, Defends Controversial Rapper
Many people have condemned Kanye West or Ye recently due to his problematic stances. And it seems the rapper will not stop making headlines anytime soon. The most problematic out of all has been his anti-Semitic remarks. Additionally, he has also been censured for using the “White Lives Matter” slogan on his Yeezy outfits. The 9th season of the Yeezy collection was shown during the Paris Fashion Week, this year saw many celebrities such as Bella Hadid and Jaden Smith calling out the rapper. Ye also got in trouble for tweeting the Swastika symbols under the star of David.
Now, one of West’s fellow rappers P Diddy recently expressed his support for the Heartless rapper in an interview. Although Diddy said he did not agree with West’s remarks and beliefs, he called Ye a “free thinker”. He also shared his thoughts on the Black Lives Matter movement.
P Diddy Expresses his Support for Ye
Recently in an interview on The Breakfast Club, rapper P Diddy decided to share his thoughts and feelings on his controversial fellow rapper Kanye West or Ye. Amid Ye getting canceled everywhere and by everyone, Diddy expressed his support for the Yeezy founder. However, he strongly disapproved of the White Lives Matter slogan that Ye has been using amid real issues surrounding black lives in the US. Diddy gave his thoughts on Black Lives Matter saying,
“[‘Black Lives Matter’] was our slogan. That wasn’t our slogan to go share with nobody else”
Although the Coming Home singer called out West for his controversial slogan, he also said, “[people] don’t have to condemn Kanye or cancel him”. And Diddy also called West a “free thinker” saying, “My boy is a super, super, super free thinker”. And he went on to defend the rapper,
“And a lot of times, what he means is, like, misconstrued, you know what I’m saying?”
This is not the first time the Gotta Move On singer defended the Praise God rapper. Previously Diddy shared that he wanted to create T-shirts in support of Ye. And as for the controversial shirts, the I need a Girl singer asked people to not purchase the T-shirts via Instagram recently.
Kanye West’s White Lives Matter Controversy
In this year’s Paris Fashion Week, Ye or Kanye West showcased his 9th season of the Yeezy collection. However, soon after he fell into another controversy. Ye got called out by celebrities due to the use of the White Lives Matter slogan on the T-shirts.
It infuriated many and Jaden Smith who was in the audience left the show immediately while Ye had been giving the introductory speech. Later Smith tweeted,
“I Don’t Care Who’s It Is If I Don’t Feel The Message I’m Out”
The tweets received likes from other celebrities like Kendall Jenner. Gigi Hadid also called out the Heartless rapper via Instagram comment. She called him a joke and a bully. Since this incident, West has found himself in hot waters over anti-Semitic tweets.
