Natalie Portman has been in show business for decades now. She stepped into Hollywood as a professional actor when she was just twelve years old. It did not take her too long to rise to fame as she gained worldwide recognition for her portrayal of Padme Amidala in the 1999 movie Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, even though the use of CGI in the film made things a little difficult for her.

Over the years, Natalie Portman has starred in numerous blockbuster movies, some of which even won her accolades. Her most recent movie May December has once again led to the actress getting nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

May December is a drama film that is loosely inspired by American s*x offender Mary Kay Letourneau. The film sees Porter in the role of an actress named Elizabeth Berry who visits Georgia to meet and analyze the life of a controversial woman whom she is set to portray in a film.

The woman Elizabeth is going to portray is Gracie Atherton-Yoo (Julianne Moore) who is infamous for her 23-year-long relationship with her husband Joe Yoo (Charles Melton). What’s concerning about this relationship is that Gracie’s relationship with Joe started when she was 36 years old and the latter was only 13 years old.

Although Natalie Portman has been a fan of Moore for a long time, this movie is the first time they met. Speaking of their meeting, Portman told USA Today:

“The photographic evidence would suggest we had a very intense friendship before, but it was, “Hi, nice to see you, bye.” That was the extent of it. But I really studied Julie’s work as an actress and I was so lucky to get to play that (in this movie). I could use my own fandom as part of the character.”

That being said, Moore and Portman have now become friends who admire each other for their talents and are grateful to have gotten the chance to work together in May December.

May December is available for streaming on Netflix.
