Netflix’s One Piece: Emily Rudd Says She Was Born to Play Nami as She “Grew up camping”
When it comes to films and live adaptations of already existing fictional characters in books or animation, the casting process is always an important factor to weigh in. The actors have to fit into the image that the fans have in general already made up in their minds.
With the upcoming Netflix live adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece series, fans seem to be satisfied with the casting as far as it can be seen. And recently, cast member Emily Rudd who plays the character of Nami also joined in and shared why she is a perfect fit for the character.
Upcoming One Piece star Emily Rudd Reveals Why She Deserves Her Role
The casting for Nami in the upcoming Netflix live adaptation of the One Piece manga series seemed to have been done correctly as cast member Emily Rudd recently revealed why so. Her character Nami is known for being the navigator for her team members headed by the straw hat pirate/ rubber boy Monkey D. Luffy. And talking about her experience playing the role, Rudd shared why she was a perfect casting choice after all.

It turns out, the 30-year-old naturally has a good orientation which makes her the default person in her family or any group to find the right spot and location. Moreover, the actress revealed that she grew up camping and while there, she would take on the responsibility of handling paper maps for navigation.
Talking with Games Radar+ Rudd concluded by saying,
“I was born to be Nami”
And as far as the fans’ reaction goes, most of them have been positive about the Moonshot star being cast as Nami. Along with all this, Rudd also discussed more about her role, about how she was perceived as more of a maternal figure and boss of the group.

A Brief Look at Upcoming Netflix Live-Action One Piece
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s Manga series One Piece, the upcoming live-action will center around the straw hat pirate boy Monkey D. Buffya and his voyage to find a great treasure along with his crew of straw hat pirates.
The series is reportedly 18 million dollars per episode and is developed by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda. The cast ensemble is made up of Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, etc. One Piece (2023) will be available for streaming on Netflix from 31st August.
