“Never been one of those people that’s at a Kim Kardashian level”: Oscar Winner Charlize Theron Revealed Her Inferiority Complex, Said Kim K’s a Bigger Star Than Her
Charlize Theron is one of the most prominent names in Hollywood. The actress of South African descent has carved a name for herself, having starred in a broad host of movies, ranging from The Devil’s Advocate to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. No wonder she is one of the most famous stars out there. But despite scaling all these hills, there is still a lacuna in her. Theron is under the delusion that her fame hasn’t reached the heights that other celebrities have achieved, including the likes of Kim Kardashian.
Charlize Theron’s humble beginnings to blockbuster career
Charlize Theron first moved to America with the hope that she would be able to build a successful career as a model. But as fate would have it, there were other things in store for her. She bagged a role in Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest, which served as a launch pad for her career.
She would go on to star in numerous famous projects, such as That Thing You Do!, The Cider House Rules, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Mighty Joe Young. But the film that saw her scale the peak of her career was Monster. That was a landmark in her career, with the 47-year-old winning an Oscar for her role in the movie.
Still in denial of her greatness
Charlize Theron won her first Oscar in 2004 for Monster. That was the movie that announced her arrival to the world at large. She was there to dominate and didn’t she get that done in some fashion? The actress told Entertainment Tonight,
“Monster was definitely a moment in my career where I realized the opportunity that I was given was a chance to show that I was capable of more, and it did change my career.”
The North Country star hasn’t stopped since then. Over the years, she has bagged roles that have brought her great repute in the movie industry. Theron has also finally become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the wildly popular dystopian Mad Max universe as well.
But she is still modest about herself.
Charlize Theron feels that she is behind Kim K in terms of popularity
Looking back at her career, Theron is not entirely satisfied with the trajectory her career has taken, with her dubbing it a “mediocre ride”. She feels that her career has peaked. She said,
“I feel like I’m at a place where it is what it is. Working more isn’t, I think, going to change my level of fame.”
And she has a specific star whom she can’t compare with – Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian. She continued, “I’ve never been one of those people that’s at a Kim Kardashian level.” She seems to be of the view that her influence has been on the decline for the past few years, something that fans are unable to wrap their heads around.
One wonders if is it just her inferiority complex speaking.
