David Yates, the director of the final four films of the franchise. He first became involved with the Harry Potter film series with 2007’s Order of the Phoenix and went on to direct the following three sequels, including Half-Blood Prince and both Deathly Hallows films. Despite Daniel Radcliffe’s refusal to return as Harry Potter, Yates hasn’t ruled out directing a future installment if the possibility arises.

Harry Potter Director Hasn’t Ruled Out Directing Another Film in the Fantasy Franchise

We are all familiar with and love the Harry Potter movies, which transported us to the magical world of Hogwarts. Additionally, the name of the actor who played Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe, is now linked to the character. With the 34-year-old actor, the director of the fantasy franchise has also played a crucial role in helping the films to succeed.

David Yates first helmed Order of the Phoenix in 2007, and that earned him, Best Director honors from the Saturn and Empire Awards. He later won a BAFTA Award for his work and went on to direct three sequels. After his tenure with the main franchise, the director was tasked with directing the Fantastic Beasts films, which act as prequels and spinoffs to the Harry Potter film series.

During the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Yates left open the possibility of later returning to direct another film set in the Harry Potter universe. The Harry Potter series ended with Deathly Hallows Part Two and since then, there has been no news about any further film. However, the director didn’t rule out a return to direct a future installment if the possibility arises.

He gushed about his experience working on the Harry Potter films and the people he met during that time. Yates acknowledged that he hasn’t discussed Harry Potter since Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore’s release in 2017 but that he can never rule out a comeback.

According to a video posted by Deadline Hollywood, the director said,

“We haven’t had a conversation since we finished it. It’s been about ‘let’s just park it and be done for a while. Never say never, I would say.”

Daniel Radcliffe, the lead actor of the fantasy drama, has ruled out his return to the franchise, therefore there are no plans to make a Harry Potter film or another Fantastic Beasts flick. However, HBO is making a Harry Potter reboot series with a completely new cast.

The Harry Potter film series is one of the most recognizable film series in history. From 2001 until 2011, the bestselling novel series was adapted for the big screen, winning over countless fans. Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO David Zaslav announced on April 12 that a new Max Original is in the works, rebooting the Harry Potter franchise.

The series will follow the guidance of the books but this time throughout seven seasons. The Harry Potter TV series has a lot to live up to, not only because the movies are renowned masterpieces but also because many of the performers have become recognizable as characters from the Wizarding World.

The cast for the reboot series is yet to be finalized as J.K. Rowling serving as the executive producer will have the final say. The Harry Potter TV show reboot will premiere on Max. Fans can expect Harry Potter’s return to Hogwarts sometime in 2025 or 2026.
